Yet MLB drafts the best baseball recruits right out of HS. Same with basketball and the NBA. The only reason football recruits “need CFB to further their career” is because the NFL requires them to be college upperclassmen to get drafted.
1) Football is a full contact sport that few 17-18 year olds are physically mature enough to play.
2) Can you please point us to the developmental leagues the NFL currently has in place?
3) The NFL has the three years from high school rule in place for football players because that is much cheaper and easier than creating and sustaining their own developmental leagues.
But, COLLEGE FOOTBALL BAD & UNFAIR!!!!
ETA: Talkin' out your got damn Kennesaw neck as usual.

Not even remotely the same level of development and NBA no longer drafts HS kids.
BTW the vast majority of Minor league baseball players barely make a livable wage. The life of a CFB scholarship athlete
his HEADS AND SHOULDERS better than the vast majority of Minor league baseball player

Then they aren’t physically mature enough to play it in college. Do you not realize that if the model was the same as the other sports, the relative development gap would shrink just like the others?

How is this relevant? Just because they currently use college to do it doesn’t preclude them from creating these if they didn’t.

Cheaper and easier, huh? Which pro sport generates the most money? Hint: it’s not baseball ($10.3 billion/year), and it’s damn sure not basketball ($4.8 billion/year). It’s NFL football ($13 billion/year).
So the two sports producing less revenue than football can afford developmental leagues, but the #1 revenue generating sport couldn’t?

I never said this. That would be like saying “college baseball (or basketball) is bad & unfair.” I’m just saying there are multiple development paths available for the other sports, but not for football. That leaves college as the only option (even for guys who are NFL ready out of HS). It also doesn’t provide a minor league like the others as an option for those who need some development but might have trouble keeping grades up and staying academically eligible (not an issue in the other sports). Not everyone is academically well-suited for college (and that should be ok).
Are you on the spectrum?

Complete horseshite.A 18 and 19 year old kid going against a fully developed 30 year old? GTFO!
The only posistion where you could possibly make the leap would be RB.

Is this even a legitimate question?Do you even realize that's it's FAR less expensive to put together D league basketball team and minor league baseball team?
Do you even realize the VAST majority of Minor league baseball players barely make a livable save.
Do you REALLY think an NFL developmental league would have the same coaching, facilities and training as a P5 CFB program?Of course not.

Anyone who calls what players get in an education “free” doesn’t understand value. They are not getting a “free” education. They are earning their education by playing football. That’s at the base level. They play football they get an education.

Happens in the other sports.

Yes, but it’s still more than college athletes make (at least if they abide by NCAA rules). And they don’t have to attend and pass college level classes. They can focus 100% on developing their craft. Football players don’t have this option.

Why do you keep saying this?CFB is far different than MLB and you rarely even see
it I that sport and the NBA has quit the practice all together.

horseshite.Their stipend money alone is more than what a lower class minor league baseball player makes and they only get paid during season and that doesn't include spring training or instructional league. I'd take the life of scholarship athlete any day over that of an average minor league baseball player
A college athlete isn't living like this:
quote:
But Broshuis said he didn’t like trying to make ends meet on a starting salary of $1,100 per month, before additional taxes and clubhouse fees were taken out. He said many fellow players were also strapped for cash. “Guys living either sleeping on some stranger’s futon at a host family’s house, or they’re cramming six guys into a three-bedroom apartment trying to split rent as many ways as possible,” he said.

Well if you are getting paid to do something then by definition you are no longer an amateur.
I’ll outright say it: I don’t give a damn about the individual athletes. I support my Alma mater no matter what SoB throws on our jersey for a few years. You’re already compensated far and away more than what you are individually worth anyways because of the product as whole is what interests us.
This generation has been given everything in life from cradle to high school commencement and they act like they are Kunta Kentaing it out there.
frick it just get off my lawn.
Agreed!

Yeah they get nothing. I'm not saying don't pay them but the argument they get "nothing" is down right false.
Agree completely with everything you said, and I’ll extend it to the bleacher report article where they interviewed a bag man. Not picking on LSU, as I believe EVERY school is doing this, even mine. So these guys are getting everything you mentioned, plus side cash from bag men.
Just my belief, not targeted at any specific school.

Not merely false but stands in clear contradiction of the high strategic value of a good education. And.. does not take into account what others have to pay for what they get for free.

Your point is well made and I completely agree. But to be fair, its just as true to say that anyone that receives an "academic" scholarship earned it through the hard work they put into school previously and also the hard work they must maintain in order to meet the academic requirements of said scholarship.

The NFL doesn't want them, it's not college football that is holding them back.
Are you trying to force the NFL to make them take players they don't want?
quote:
How is this relevant? Just because they currently use college to do it doesn’t preclude them from creating these if they didn’t.
They have tried to create these multiple times. There is no money in it because the reality is the schools are the draw and what makes the money, not the players.

Once again are you trying to force the NFL to create things?

If it's such a great thing that's needed, why don't you go out there and create it?
Go ahead and take the top 300 players out of highschool, in the end college football will generate the same revenue and be exactly the same. But most likely, those 300 players will look at the shitty pay and choose something else, with the exception of those who can't make it into college to start with.

If it's not free then they would have to pay taxes on it.
Go ahead and frick shite up for 1% of the players that after 3-5 years are good enough to make the NFL.
