Article makes Jalen Hurts sound arrogant but hard to not like him

Good ESPN article (no paywall) to read about Jalen Hurts:
LINK
Sounds like he is more like Saban than any other person in football.
Extremely competitive young man. Stared down another QB recruit ... told Bama coaches he was going to win the job and the others would transfer out ... Saban had a hard time reading Jalen ... a lot of the players thought he was a jerk because he was so intense ... but ... Jalen has so many intangibles, you can't help but love the kid.
Definitely a worthy opponent. Of course, I hope we beat Oklahoma but if they were playing anyone else, I would be pulling for Hurts.

I like the kid, but some of that was kinda silly writing on the part of the author:
Little cringy here. Especially from an otherwise quiet, stoic kid.
Ummm...Jalen. You've had a great collegiate career. You never went wire-to-wire as a starting QB to win a ring. But you did win one. But...those two dudes have-literally-almost a dozen rings between them. As professionals.
Tap the brakes on those comparisons, Bro.
Oh and the writer isn't exactly doing himself-or the subject of his article-any favors, either:
Bro...Jalen transferred. He's a grad transfer. He used the transfer portal. What are you talking about?
quote:
"I was just a rare breed. I was different, and I am," Hurts says. "I mean, just different from anybody. It's just the way I was, from how I carried myself, to how I was raised, to how I played, to how I interact with people."
Little cringy here. Especially from an otherwise quiet, stoic kid.
quote:
"You think Michael Jordan walked into a room and he had to tell people how good he was?" Hurts says. "Michael Jordan walked into a room and people are like, 'There goes Michael.' You know, Tom Brady. 'There goes Tom. There he goes.' ... If you're that guy, you don't have to say anything. Your presence is felt."

He made mistakes, not excuses. And when he suffered his very public failures, the quarterback who squats more than 600 pounds shouldered the weight. He put the team before himself, an old-school quality that, in the age of transfer portals and job-hopping coaches, has resonated powerfully across the sport.

What a shite writer. But a QB needs a little strut in his step.

Jalen has always been a good kid. I liked him when he was at Bama and I think he has represented Oklahoma well. He is a good QB, not an elite one, but he manages to do a good job and without him OU would certainly not be in the mix this year. He is not a Burrows, but do not be surprised if he scores against LSU. If he were playing against Clemson or OSU I would definitely be rooting for him, but I just don't see him pulling it off against this LSU team.
He may get drafted in the NFL, but much like AJ McCarron, I don't think he will ever see much playing time.

Only way OU wins is if Jalen thinks his shite doesn’t stink. Only shot they have is for him t run for 65+ yards and a TD or 2 and to hit CeeDee lamb for 2+ TDs.

literally-almost

almost
Tom Brady: 6 Super Bowl rings
Michael Jordan: 6 NBA titles
6+6=12
12=a dozen
Not "literally almost" a dozen. It's "literally" a dozen.

If I were the ravens, I’d get Hurts in the 3rd rd or later. Imagine him running it with Ingram and Lamar. That would be a tough pairing to stop.

If Jalen is arrogant, then JB9 is cocky af.

clearly you've never been a stud collegiate athlete. You can just feel all the eyeballs on you when you are standing in line at chickfila or out and about doing anything else. It is just different but what really gets weird once you are many years past your prime and you feel eyeballs looking at you again.... You get a burst of excitement only to realize people are staring at you cause your fly is unzipped and you are selling corndogs

Burrow is absolutely cock AF
Gotta be. He's got to command respect from a team of alpha males. It's just part of successful QB DNA

Nothing wrong with a confident QB. In fact, he better be. We’ve always seen Jalen’s competitive side. He’s just never spoken this clearly at length about his belief in himself. He wants to be great. Good for him.

I pull for Jalen, but not in the next game. I hope Jalen does very well in the pros and in the future outside of football, real team players.
He has nothing to prove on the field, and he like Burrow seem to have an it factor when it comes to the QB position. They are both the type to lead and carry a team.
