Except Saban is 68...he looks and sounds tired

He wants one more title...before he calls it quits...giving him the all time record

Bama = Tennessee.

You can’t spell Citrus without UT. tDecline is real, and irreversible.

The real question is whether Tennessee can take advantage of Bama’s decline and (at least one more) rebuilding year, break the streak and establish themselves as an East power who can occasionally compete for the division and perhaps even a conference title.

If they don’t do it in the next year or two, I’m not sure it’s ever going to happen.

If Tenner can’t leapfrog Bama when they’re this far down, it may be time to look into replacing either UT or Vandy with Memphis.

I’d love to see Tennessee return to their glory days when they were in the conference title game regularly.

If they can’t make the leap though, one of the Cupcake Nine (preferably from the East) needs to be excommunicated and replaced with an A&M-type school.

We need someone who can win 7-9 per year, but won’t win their division with any regularity. One division title per decade would be ideal.

The schedule has to get tougher, but we can’t swap out a bottom-dweller for a Clemson (for example) because there are already 5 legit contenders in the conference, plus 3-5 more teams who occasionally go anywhere from 6-6 to 9-3.

We need to have this conversation now and get the pieces in motion in case the opportunity presents itself and we have a real chance to improve the conference without adding one of the 3-4 non-SEC teams capable of winning a title.

Bama played in the Citrus Bowl in 2010. What happened after that?

Their inflated recruiting ranking will give them an emotional boost for a couple more weeks.

Alabama is still Alabama. Their only problem is the conference is catching up on talent. 6 of the top 8 classes were SEC. Alabama used to lap the field in recruiting. Georgia has caught Alabama in recruiting and LSU, A&M, Auburn, & Florida recruited at almost the same level. Even Tennessee was close this year. When 6 teams recruit at similar levels, it is harder to dominate. Saban made everyone go nuclear on facilities etc..

SEC should be getting 2 teams in the playoffs annually. Clemson, Ohio State, and the top 2 in the SEC. Nobody else should matter.

Except this time Saban actually has lost a step. You can see it on the sidelines during games. I know you don’t want to admit it but Father Time is undefeated. How many great coaches have remained elite into their 70’s?

His sideline demeanor hasn’t changed. You can’t say that about Saban.

I'm not an Alabama fan. But geez guys, Alabama lost a total of two games by a COMBINED 8 points this year. Year after year they will compete for the national championship. Just face it...they are the New York Yankees of college football. 17 national championships prove the point. Give credit where credit is due. I'd rather compete against the best than beat the worst.

Pretty sure I can. Saban was animated as frick in that Auburn game.

So. I can. And I did. And he was.

Whatever you need to tell yourself man, I know y’all are in denial right now. Completely understandable.

But tell me how many of history’s great coaches have sustained elite success well into their 70’s?
