Honestly, who was a better hire at the time on paper? Orgeron or Pittman?

Serious question. I say Pittman, and we’ve seen how Orgeron turned out.

Both were meh at the time. Ed O has turned out to be fantastic and a cultural match as well.

We see how Jimbo and Herman turned out. They looked better than O. Your point?

Orgeron and it’s not close. Pittman will have things he needs to do he doesn’t know he needs to do. How we handle staff attrition, the portal, all the appearances, letting go, the media, etc. He could just coach his entire life, now he’s not gonna have time to coach. Kirby still figuring this out.

interesting thoughts

so if Jim Chaney is our "Steve Ensminger head coach of the offense type guy", who is our Joe Brady going to be?

Or how about no Chaney at all and get Art Briles' boy

The hope is that because he's so well respected and liked by other coaches that they'll want to work under him despite his lack of HC experience. Odom as his DC would be a good start.

My point is none of us know what the frick we’re talking about in all honesty. Pittman very well could the next great coach. Great o-line coach and a great recruiter. Pretty good base to have when trying to start a team.

Orgeron has caught lightning in a bottle with a transfer QB and an OC on the fast track to an NFL HC job, guys with Brady's talent won't be begging 16 year olds to come to his Campus when he can be a HC in the NFL

We'll see if Orgeron can organically develop his own QBs and OCs in the very near future, then we'll know what Orgeron is

What was Chizik after $Cam left?

A coach with no head coaching experience gets his cherry popped in the SEC West and you think he's better than O? Damn man, you're still way too butthurt over the LSU loss or actually don't know diddly about football.

per cultural match, Pittman played up the road at Pittsburg State, has a lake house I believe in the next county over in Oklahoma and has family sprinkled all over Northwest Arkansas - Bella Vista, Springdale, Booneville

For your info, I agree with this. Their recruiting is going to allow them to coast at 10-2 though. Probably produce a couple 11-1 seasons.

Orgeron wasn’t a bad hire even at the time imo.

Not according to your fan base. Y’all were pitching a fit. (Avoided saying melting because that is becoming the most overused word around here)

He will be the best coach we've hired since Petrino for sure - (edit: duh)

And he will surpass Petrino

It means the world to Sam, and he did everything right in his career. Thank God we didn't hire another punk who never even played football in college.

O had already been an HC at Ole Miss and an interim HC at USC. How in the world is Pittman better on paper?
