That’s pretty embarrassing. I know they never really gave him a chance much like LSU was with coach O but honestly Odom didn’t have a ton to work with and even won 6(?) games this year even when his guys knew they couldn’t play for anything more

They had expectations of winning 9 or 10 games this year with their schedule and adding Bryant. They vastly underperformed their internal expectations this year.

Speaking of Missouri remember people saying Whaley was better than crocket?! Lmao o mean neither really panned our since crockett ended up being a major head case

I bet they go after someone like Heupel or even Drinkwitz and get back to their old Big 12 like ways of high powered offense.

Either one has as much as much upside as anyone out there, but they're just a little too unproven for bigger programs..

Let's hope they don't get be either one because I think they'd hang 50 for the next decade.

Recruiting sanctions aren’t going to be very appealing to a new hire.

Honestly I think they thought they were getting a better QB than they actually got. He couldn't throw at Clemson either. His struggles weren't a shock at all. Not sure how much of that was on Odom. Rough break.

They had some reason to have expectations. Let's not forget, they lost to a 7–4 G5 team this year. They also lost to 3–8 Vanderbilt, and to highly underwhelming Kentucky and Tennessee squads.

There's no reason they should not have won the Wyoming and Vanderbilt games, and at least split the Tennessee/Kentucky games.

Barry Odom is not a good coach at all. Competing in the SEC means they probably feel like they can't give a guy the time they gave Gary Pinkel to get rolling.

It’s kind of shocking that 6-6 isn’t good enough for Missouri. His record at mozzou is almost exactly the same as Bert’s first 4 years here and Bert got a fifth year.

Other than vandy there’s no program in the sec that’d I’d say is definitely worse than Missouri. They can do a lot worse than 6-8 wins a year.

Historically I would agree but over the last 15 years I’d say they’re arguably better than Mississippi State, Kentucky, us, South Carolina and Ole Miss. They won 10-12 games multiple times before coming into the SEC and then won the East twice.

It was also better than Gary Pinkel's win percentage over his first four years, and that guy retired as their winningest coach. He was there for 15 years, and ten of those 15 he ended with 8 wins or fewer.

Edit: I think firing Odom was the right decision, for what it's worth. There's no need to keep a guy who's at .500 over four years in the most competitive conference.

Yeah it was a perfect storm of tenner, uga and Florida all being down at the same time with them having excellent qb play. But if you look at money, facilities, fan support, recruiting they are clearly behind us and most of the other teams you mentioned.

Zou is so screwed. Their having to lay 10 million to buy out the staff, lowest revenue sharing check of all the SEC schools, and their athletic department is in the red and couldn’t afford Chad Morris.

Now with sanctions and scholarship reductions they have to go hire a new coach.

They are SCREWED

Mizzou was extremely inconsistent this year, and they had pretty high expectations pre-season.

I'm still really surprised they pulled the plug while the NCAA cloud still lingers over them. Especially considering his buyout and the fact that they won't receive a share of the bowl money this year. You'd think they would've given him another year.

Heupel and Napier seem to be the early rumors.

I would personally enjoy them promoting Dooley.

Heupel would be a decent hire.

Dooley being promoted would be a Christmas present for Hog fans.

Napier would be a damn good hire.

I think Napier is the early favorite for Mizzou, there seems to already be some legitimate smoke there. Somebody that knows one of his players' father said that Napier is out and has quietly informed the players.

Although, I don't know how credible it is, but someone said that Napier has already basically declined interest in both Mizzou and Arkansas ahead of the rumors.
