i dont think there is anything I'm more opposed to than an 8 team playoff.

I love how unashamed people on this board are of admitting they have very low reading comprehension.

4 is more than enough.

Your thread is trash. That's why I stopped reading it.

No 8 team and no 6 team...must win your division at the very least to be considered for the playoffs...

6 team.
1-2 draw bye
3-6 play in games. 3-4 get home field week after season is over.
Final 4 continue as is.

I don't understand why people seem hellbent on wanting to expand, it's not liek the system we have doesn't work. The first year in 2014 is really the only time you can legitimately make a case they didn't make a right choice for 1 of the 4 spots. Every other year they've gotten it exactly right. We don't need more computers, we don't need the BCS, and we dont' need 8 teams. It's working just fine as is.

I'd prefer to have 8 team playoff.
1. automatic bid for The 5 conference champions
2. automatic bid the next 2 highest rated teams that are not conference champions.
3. one " at large" pick by committee.
Set the bracket up based on final season rankings highest ranked plays lowest ranked , etc.

Because having no football game is always better than having a football game, right?
I'll never understand why people keep begging for byes in the CFP.

I agree. I don't think there will be 8 teams every year worthy of playing for the national championship

This makes the most sense. Like an NFL conference playoff.
It rewards the top two teams while allowing a 2-loss team to work their way into the title game.

If your conference can't make it with an 8 team playoff, then maybe there is a good reason for it.
AQ status is bullshite.

there aren't. And even if we expanded #9 is going to bitch.
I agree wiht what someone said earlier today that the playoff was created to avoid a situation like 2004 where you have more than 2 undefeated teams. Until the day arrives where all 5 P5 chamipons are undefeated (nearly impossible) I don't see any reason to complain. If you lose a game, any game, you've effectively taken the fate out of your own hands.

The point I'm making is even with 2 games left to play, we have a scenario in which there are EIGHT teams with legit resumes for FOUR spots. No part of me thinks Georgia can beat LSU or Minnesota can beat Ohio St, but I also didn't believe Arizona st would beat Oregon until there was about 4 minutes left in that game.
There is a case to be made that teams that, although they could win a title, do not deserve to have a chance at it. I mostly agree with it. at 8 teams, I would say probably almost every year there will be 1-2 who really dont deserve to have a chance to win the national title after their regular season, but I do think its more important to give every team that does deserve a shot their chance.
UCF may not have been up to the challenge of winning 3 straight agsinst top10 teams a few years ago, but its absolute garbage to say they didnt deserve the chance.
While 4 teams is a massive improvement over 2 teams, its ridiculous that the top division in college football is the only sport in America that leaves so much of the control for determining a national champion to the conversations of retired old people.
Sooner or later something crazy like the OP is going to happen and it doesnt have to.

Well the first round of the playoffs start in next Saturday conference championship. So my opinion Notre Dame should be left out every year no matter their record, since they always miss the first round of playoffs. Second round all who qualify should be undefeated teams and 1 loss teams.
Should some how get to 6 teams, if it would be 8 teams needs to be more big comferences playing against one another. That would be 8 conference championships undefeated or 1 loss moves on unless there is a 2 loss team that won but a 1 loss team that did not get in the conference champ game would leap frog into the regular 4 team playoff at end of December. Needs to be some sort of change definitely change in scheduling.
Ohio St and Clemson played some cup cakes all year and hardly any of them ranked. Ohio St played their first ranked team all year in Penn St and barely won. Ohio St probably loses one of these next three games or all 3.
