As many of you already know, Chette Williams and his family are grieving the tragic loss of Chette's son, Chette Jr. As the Auburn Football team chaplain, Chette serves the players, coaches and support staff both tirelessly and selflessly and has thus become a brother and/or father figure to so many. His door is always open and his generosity is endless.
Former Auburn Football players are coming together in this fundraising campaign to help reciprocate some of that generosity by assisting with funeral costs and the furthering of Chette's powerful ministry moving forward.
The Auburn Family is strong and proud, and Chette needs his Auburn Family now more than ever. Please consider donating and sharing.

Such a sad story, especially considering the circumstances.

Somehow I missed this. So Chette's son was the robber? Man, that's crazy, and scary.

Man, I hate that for brother Chette. Hes been a good steward for those kids down there. Not sure what happened to his son, but he got shot after shooting a gun at a guy who had a gun. That's the risk you take when you act like a thug. I hate that the guy's dead, but you can't be surprised when you pull a gun on someone trying to rob them and you get shot. Had he rolled up on me I probably would have done the same thing. Anybody would. If Chette Jr. wasn't a criminal Chette Jr. would still be alive. It's his fault. It just sucks for a dad to see his son end up like that.

So it appears. Based on news reports, police first thought it was an altercation after a wreck, but now they have decided based on witness reports and video footage it was an attempted armed robbery and the would-be victim defended himself.

One news report I saw said there were 2 others in the car with Jr.

It occurred over in a not so good part of Dekalb County, southeast of 285. Makes you wonder why he was even in that area.

That seems to be the consensus. I can't say for sure. I am going strictly based on what the various news reports have been here in Atlanta.

According to the news reports I've seen, he pulled up in front of a guy pumping gas, gets out of the car and pulls a gun.

Guy pumping gas jumps back in his car. A shot is fired at him as he is diving into the car. He grabs his gun and fires back, hitting Jr.

Jr. gets back in his car and takes off, wrecks a little way down. Guy goes into the gas station store and puts his gun on the counter with the clerk and then goes and hides in the back of the store.

EMTs get to Jr, take him to the hospital where he dies from the gunshot.

Just a sad story all the way around.

So there is a gofundme set up for the guy that pulled a gun on a person just pumping gas, tries to rob him, gets shot in return?

Is that true?

It’s for Bro Chette, not his son. Obviously his son was in the wrong, and a horrible shot.

Let the buzzards eat him. I will not be donating money to bury a criminal.

Wonder how much Chette makes. I know he's paid through FCA and not by AU.

The fact there is a account setup for him is a disgrace to the family of the victim
