Really no one does except Bama fans. They've already gotten a pass twice without winning the conference and now no longer have the stupid "eye test" argument.

Because Herbie is smart. Bama doesn't deserve to even be mentioned unless LSU somehow loses to Arkansas and A&M. That ain't happening. Bama will go this year having beaten one top 25 team if they beat Auburn. Only one team can say worse and that's an undefeated, defending national champ.

The fact that Bama is even being discussed on the playoff show is a win for Bama from a publicity standpoint. It would take something otherworldly for them to make the playoffs this year.

Maybe not a hobbled Tua, but I would take Bama with a completely healthy Tua over anyone.

That is the dumbest argument of all time. in CFP era when Bama has not won conference they still won the national title proving they were the best team in CFB. Bama didn’t win conf in 2017 and 2011 yet win the national title and embarrassed the number one team in their home state. Teams that win their conference championship yet lose to unranked teams somehow feel slighted. Any year that was questionable that Bama got in they won the national title.
