Biddy when asked a "bet your life savings" scenario: "I'd go with Lane Kiffin"

Said it today in DTS when asked a hypothetical.
He jokingly answered he go with Kiff.
Then went a little more serious saying that Kiffin checks all the boxes and of course brought up HYs past attempt to hire him.
Also said Kiff has basically been "screaming from the rooftops" that he wants this job.
Knows Arkansas history and has connections - check
Can recruit - check.
Can assemble a good staff - check
Knows the SEC - check.
Runs a fun offense - check
Would attract much needed attention to Arkansas and recruits - check.
Has coached P5 before - check.
But, he has not been the same at FAU once Baby Briles left. He's actually lost a couple of games he shouldn't have this year, but won more than he should have 2 yrs ago with Briles at OC.
I also think Briles would be a Natural fit. Hell bring over Pittman as well. Kiff could do it. I was all in on the Lane train in 2017. He was my #1 choice. But he does scare me a bit when you dig into his record a bit.
I bet he would almost certainly win 6-7 games though with the talent he could get on campus. Plus the needling of Saban would glorious.

Lol Lane would irritate Saban so good.

Remember when HY was hiring Sampson?
Pepper ridge farms remembers.
Just because he tried to hire him to Houston doesn't mean he's hiring him at Arkansas. Just because Lane contacted a booster and give him a list of the staff he would hire at Arkansas doesn't mean it's his job for the taking.

This guy is always wrong. Always. I'd be cool with Kiffin though if this is the one time Biddy is on to something.

It should but is still impressive what limited things he has done there. FAU was one of the worst D1 schools for a decent stretch.
2009: 5-7
2010: 4-8
2011: 1-11
2012: 3-9
2013: 6-6
2014: 3-9
2015: 3-9
2016: 3-9
8 Years: 28-68 29.17%
Not sure about all D1 schools but that has to be one of the worst 8 years stretches for programs in that time frame.

I mean they hired Bert's dline coach to be a head coach.
Look at the shite show that is FIU then versus now.

I've conveyed my thoughts about Kiffin ad nauseum, so I'll spare this thread my usual Kiffin soapbox rant about how he would be an unmitigated disaster from a pure football standpoint.
However, I will add that I shake my head when I see our fans clamor for us to hire Kiffin for nonsensical and non-football reasons like how "fun" or "interesting" it'd be to have him back in the SEC and how great it'd be to see him "troll Saban," as if they've forgotten that we already had that with Bert when he came in talking shite about a few SEC coaches and spread offenses and proceeded to get our arse beat and turn us into a laughingstock paper tiger.
Have we forgotten the stupid arse tweets and the Twitter feuds with Wisconsin fans? The shots at Saban's MSU record? The open beef with Malzahn and publicly decrying up-tempo offenses because of specious player safety concerns? The big talk at a Texas HS coaches conference about kicking any teams arse if they don't have a fullback, only to have Texas Tech go in dry on us at RRS a few months later? Talking shite at SEC Media Days in 2016 about other programs having to deal with player arrests but not his, only to have that blow up in his face a few weeks later?
Did someone wave the memory eraser wand from Men In Black in front of our faces to make us forget just how badly and consistently we've publicly humiliated ourselves the last 7 years, and how much shite we've had to eat?
Me, I'd prefer that as a program we just shut the frick up, mind our own business, focus on football, and stop trying to be the class clown of SEC football.

So feral... I suppose you would be against hiring kiffin for our HC???

Posted on 11/13/19 at 9:16 pm to Feral
This also means Mike Leach is out then?
Posted on 11/13/19 at 9:21 pm to Feral
in all seriousness
Kiff, with an oline coach like Pittman, and a really Good DC would wreck shop in recruiting and possibly on the field. But yes, we would most likely have to deal with some unexpected trolling and off of the field antic fairly often.
I think he has grown up a bit, but I had to laugh with the blind officials meme he posted on Twitter a few weeks ago. He was fined, and then contributed the entire amount to the GoFundMe set up for his fine.

Irwin said tonight that Leach definately wants the job.
He also said he reached out to a Pittman contact and he said Pittman ain't leaving Georgia for Arkansas unless it's as the HC.

Who's on his potential staff?

Part of me hopes Lane has grown up and learned from his past mistakes. Part of me is worried he would leave us like he did Tennessee at the first better offer. But he probably wouldn't be able to do that unless he got us turned around to a respectable program again.
I'd like to have a long-term good coach but I'm almost okay with someone just being here for 3 years and getting us bowl eligible even if it means they use us as a stepping stone (as sad as that sounds). We are just in a bad situation right now

I guess I am a glass half full kind of guy.
We have some really good skill position players, A good Qback with the right coach/system. And or D has just laid down for Chavis, they need some help... but aren't as bad as they have shown for some reason.
With a HC who knows the transfer portal well, and can recruit/bring in a great staff... we will have this turned around quicker than most think. Or so I choose to believe.

This is what Ive expected all along. The "Sam wants to come home" sounds way too good to be true.

It’s that rumor that’s jumped from board to board and become a more concrete fact each time.

Happens every time. I went and cruised hogville for a bit. One guy claimed he knows Kiffin has already agreed in principle.
A couple hours later 3 guys are claiming they know this as fact. Kiffin is my #1 but no way I'm buying this.
These things turn into echo Chambers and the further the echo is from the source the more the poster is 100% of his info.
