Bill Bradford Clark (born June 28, 1968) is an American football coach. He is he head football coach at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), a position he has held since 2014 season. Clark was born in Anniston, Alabama and grew up in Piedmont, Alabama, where he graduated from Piedmont High School. After he served as an assistant coach at several high schools, Clark got his first head coaching job at Prattville High School in Prattville, Alabama.[1] During his tenure at Prattville, Clark compiled an overall record of 106 wins to only 11 losses (106–11) and won back-to-back Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) state championships for the 2006 and 2007 seasons.[2] In 2008, Clark was hired to serve as the first defensive coordinator at South Alabama. He stayed in that role through the 2012 season when he was hired as head coach at Jacksonville State.[3] During his only season as head coach at Jacksonville State, Clark led the Gamecocks to their first playoff victories, 49 school records, 13 OVC records and three NCAA records.[4] In January 2014, Clark was hired to serve as the fifth head coach at UAB following the resignation of Garrick McGee.[4][5] On December 2, 2014, UAB president Ray L. Watts announced that, after commissioning an in-depth inspection of UAB's athletic budget and revenue and how the elimination of football from the athletic program would affect those, UAB had decided to close down the football program in order to save money. On June 1, 2015 news reported that the UAB Blazers football program would be reinstated.[6] In September 2015, Clark and UAB agreed to a five-year contract extension.

He's from Alabama. He's coached at multiple schools in the state. He's won everywhere he's been, taking teams that were really bad and turning them around very quickly.

Can we please stop with this bullshite!

We don't need to hire an coach who's never left the state and only coached at JSU and UAB.

Yeah I'm not sold on the experience of coaching JSU and UAB has him prepared to jump head first into the SEC west.

That doesnt mean I know of anyone better that would take the job. I'm just saying, maybe pump the brakes with the Bill Clark hype.

He needs to move up the ranks to prove himself. Are any other programs even interested in hiring him?

Jumping from UAB to Auburn is not realistic these days. It doesn't even look like he as ever coached outside the state.

Yeah, no thanks. If we ditch Malzahn, it needs to be an elite hire. Anything else is a gamble that we cannot afford.

He has a more successful resume than Gus Malzahn did as a HC.

I don’t think it’s possible.

When was the last time Auburn got a guy that was considered “elite” prior to hire?

He will be at a P5 school very soon. Smart people are recognizing what he is capable of. But let's just keep the current guy, pay him a huge salary, be content with 4-5 losses every year, and his only HC experience (outside of high school) was one year at Arky State.

I doubt we could get a big name as long as that guy across the state is still there. Nobody with a big rep wants to recruit against him, in-state.

Saban was the HC at Toledo. His next HC job was Michigan State.

Name an elite coach that would come to Auburn? If Auburn is willing to shell out the big bucks, so would another school that doesn't have Saban in their division.

You'll either get a young, up and comer, hungry guy or a big name that's at the end of his career and just wants to pad his pocket and ride off into the sunset. Think Spurrier.

Never. We've also never had the amount of money we currently have as a university and we've never had better name recognition. We have the money to go out and get an elite name. It's just making the right choice at the right time.

Exactly!

Go back to Barefield and give me a name that everyone knew. I won't hold my breath.

Tubs had the biggest name recognition, even more so than Pat Dye when he was hired.

Who's out there that is successful, that we could steal from another P5 school?

USC may want to give up Muschamp next year.

The people arguing that we deserve better are the same people saying we are incapable of it. Classic Auburn board.

Has he even gotten interest from any lower tier P5 HC openings? How about non-P5 programs that are better than UAB?

I think some of you just want him because you saw him coach at Prattville and want someone you're familiar with or someone you played for in HS to get the position at Auburn. That kind of thinking will absolutely wreck an SEC program.

The people that are saying that we deserve better, are the ones scratching there heads over huge raises and extensions for coaches that haven't earned it.

Tubs used to bend us over every year with his flirting with Arkansas. Gus shite the bed every year, caught some lightning for a couple of games, and gets a massive raise and buyout.
