don't you think you should do the same to Orgeron?

Good point....
I remember since the hiring of Coach O till just last week....
All of the hate, negative comments, making fun of, and vitriol directed at Coach O.
I am clearly happy that neither Tom Herman or Jumbo Fischer are the HC at LSU.
Who’s laughing now?

quote:You proved peoples point, look at that Offence Miles had and wasted...Not to mention Miles inherited a great set of recruits from Saban, He left O depleted. Miles was completely overrated...Oh Loved that come from behind win he again had to pull off in Kansas....Miles does not adapt or change....O has already proven he will
O hasn't even come close to the success Miles had here. When O wins a Natty, plays for 2, with 2 SEC titles.... We can make a thread about an upgrade. I'm hopeful for this year... But great recruiting classes and high hopes were here before O. Also, let's not forget our offense with Mettenburger, Beckham, landry, and Jeremy Hill. Slow the f down.

I would say Richt to Smart but Georgia plays in the east. Any coach with half a brain should be dominating that division with Georgia.
O has had to content with Saban.
I'd give it a push.

If I'm a homer, I say UGA. If I'm realistic I say UGA. As 'bad' as LSU was perceived with all the talent they had, Miles still brought home the Championship. We can't say that at UGA...yet. Kirbs is getting us ther

quote:Dude, you have to understand, I was not a fan of the Orgeron hire. Kirby was definitely the better hire on paper, as was Herman at Texas. Hot young prospects vs a washed up mediocre position coach.
Both seem to be doing well...but if you are going to hold Kirby up for future results don't you think you should do the same to Orgeron?
We're talking about different things, but I do think it's relevant.
Kirby has UGA loaded with talent and playing at a very high level, but hasn't won the game that matters. Go back and look at Richt's career, and that is the exact thing you can say to sum it up- fantastic talent, somehow didn't win the big game.
LSU hates the losing streak to Bama, but the biggest issue has been the caveman offense. Basically the QB would line up in the I formation, and yell "Hey, we're going to run offtackle to the right. You got that? Good. Hut-hut";
and we still won 8-10 games a year on talent alone.
LSU fans know you can't win a title like that anymore. You can't beat Bama with that. You couldn't before, when they played about the same way, and you sure can't now that they have Tua and the "Big 12" offense.
Oklahoma figured that out a decade or more ago, followed by TCU. Ohio State and Penn State have changed over to it. Most recently Alabama has. Now, LSU is following suit.
So like I said, different goal posts. UGA is in the spot of needing to win a title, and LSU is in the spot of needing to change philosophy without collapsing.
Might seem unfair, but I think it's how both will get judged.

Oh yeah, 36-16.

So O is already an upgrade despite not even coming anywhere in the same stratosphere of accomplishments? Let's do a checklist:
1. Has O won an SEC title? Nah? Ok
2. Has O won a Natty? Nah? Ok
3. Has O ever beat Bama? Nah? Ok
So there is not one objective thing that O has accomplished that Miles didn't... Meanwhile Les Miles won championships.. National and conference.
You are basing the idea that O is an upgrade on beating Texas. Let's see hiw the season plays out kids.

Y’all are all idiots, if LSU played in Georgia’s division we’d have at least the same credentials as Georgia

There is no way for you to know for sure LSU would have won the 2017 secc or a playoff game.

What defines a game that matters and why is it different for richt and Kirby?

The biggest thing that needed to be done to LSU's program was to successfully change the offensive system. 2 games is no guarantee, and even a season means little. You need continued success. But if this does hold out, it's an upgrade to the program, which means the coaching move was successful.
The biggest criticism of Richt was that he underachieved with the talent he had, relative to comparable programs. LSU, Florida, Alabama all had multiple national titles during his tenure, and Auburn had 1, another shot at one, and an undefeated season along with it.
Kirby has come in and vitalized the program, but the national title count is still UGA 0, rest of SEC 1. He's had 2 cracks at Bama, and despite being close, he's 0-2.
He has to break through that glass ceiling, or else he's just Richt with different hair. Same team that on any given Saturday could take anyone to the woodshed, but doesn't win the big game.

UGA during the resurgence of the SEC was definitely a power player under Richt, but he just didn't win a national title. You can say that is an unrealistic bar, but 4 other SEC teams did in that stretch, 5 if you go back to Tennessee.
Kirby's job is to get one for UGA. The program is worthy, it has everything you could ask for.

Kind of looks like it.
That's why I'm not really confident about the UF game, even though it's at home for the Tigers.

So rivalry games, seccg, and playoff games do or don’t matter?

But the loss to Troy kind of balances it out.
Not really, Saban lost to ULM his first year at Alabama, how does that loss reflect on him today?

So using your head to head rankings...
Mullen is better than O
O is better than Kirby.
Now do Mullen and Kirby please and figure out where you'll put him.

If O and LSU were in the East we would have won that division by now, look at the shellacking we gave those guys last year. The only reason LSU isn’t in the playoff convo year in and year out is one thing...Alabama. UGA, Ohio St, Oklahoma, and Clemson don’t have this hiccup, which is why they are there year in and year out. GA still hasn’t beaten them either to get past that hump. Let’s hope some things get shooken up this year.
