Honestly, baring any more injuries, this is the best team we’ve ever had.

This will be lengthy, so fair warning:
OFFENSE:
QB: Tua will be in his best form yet. He’s healthy, down to better weight, has a better coordinator and QB coach, and a year older and wiser after watching film all offseason.
RB: Najee is just as talented as any back we’ve had under Saban. Will he be the best? Probably not, but he’ll avg 4+ yards a carry behind that line. Backups are also extremely talented and hungry.
OL: Saban is probably the most happy I’ve seen him with this unit. 6-7 guys that can move around freely so we should have no problems.
TE: May be the weakest unit we have offensively, but Tua has had high praise and said people are underestimating what they can achieve this season.
WR: Where to begin? Jeudy, best all around receiver in the country, probably a top 5 pick. Ruggs, fastest player on team and a top 20 pick. Smith, has proven clutch freshman year and one of the most consistent players we have. Waddle, everyone is hyping him up and can’t wait to see him. Apparently faster out of breaks this year and will be electric on punts once again.
DEFENSE:
ILB: Moses and Miller have potential to be a Hightower and Mosley type duo. Need everyone to stay healthy there though for depth.
OLB: If Terrell Lewis stays healthy I think he produces like Tim Williams. Outside of that we just need everyone to do their job and we will be fine.
DB: Diggs is back! Has received a lot of praise from Saban and he will be hungry this season. Jobe has also been getting a lot of hype, and we already know Carter and Surtain will be lockdown.
DL: We have an insane amount of depth, but we need more from the big man that stayed for his senior season. Dale looks like he could be the next QW though.
I mean honestly guys IF we suffer less than 2 injuries to all the players I mentioned, this is going to be a more elite team than last season.

We can be very good, but a few questions/issues:
Who is Miller?
If you're trying to reference Christian Harris, he arrived in Tuscaloosa on May 28th, 2019, and has never played a snap. Pump all the brakes you can possibly find.
Half the guys you're counting on here have never played a meaningful snap or produced at the college level.
Yes, I'd put Lewis at the top of the OLB heap, but we've got several disruptive guys at this position, and discounting them as "just do your job" is insulting to their talent, in my opinion.
Don't get me wrong, this team can be very, very good - and can definitely win a championship. But anyone who's banking on this team being the best we've ever had because of what certain things look like on crimson-colored paper is putting several carts before horses. Having said that, this offense has an excellent shot at being the best Bama offense ever assembled, but we'll see. I want to see the defense get back to one that teams dread to play, and get back to making FGs before I start counting my chickens regarding "best-ever" notions.
However, I admire your pre-season optimism.

Maybe the most talented. Young in many areas, but talented.
It is all about the defense:
What hurt last year was the DB unit (especially late in the season).
If Bama can keep those guys healthy this year, I think they can be much better than last year.
And . . . I hope the young LBers play to their potential.

Yes, but offensive failures doomed us against Clemson, not defense (Savion Smith's performance notwithstanding).
We lost because we got inside the 10 yard line 5 times and netted 3 points. Period.

I think I meant Harris. Christian Harris right?

We'll see. I like this team and think it has the potential to be the best all around team with the least amount of glaring weaknesses that I can remember in a while.
But until we win the national title we won't be able to evaluate and compare them to other teams.

Dude 2016’s bama team is dominating right now in the nfl. I’m so salty that team didn’t win the title. By far our most talented team imo

Heard that about 100,000 times all last season too.
Then we played 3 really great teams to close the year and played 2 of those final 12 quarters well.
Let's maybe wait until the end of the year to crown ourselves.

Najee is nowhere near other backs in the Saban years. I'm not convinced he's the best back in this squad. He seems a little stiff to me at times and doesn't have elite top end speed.
I'd put Ingram, Henry, Lacy and TR clearly above him. And with our line and schedule, if Najee averages anywhere close to 4 yds a carry we are royally screwed.

It’s always a moving goal post. 2012’ O doesn’t seem prolific now but think about this;
Two 2nd round RBs getting legit time
A great college QB who was drafted and has stuck around as a legit backup in the league.
A top five WR.
And most ridiculously; an offensive line that had every person drafted. That is insane. Someone please tell me another one that had that. I want to know.
Then you have 2016’s D;
It’s a little harder due to the situational rotation but:
Jon Allen
Ryan Anderson
Daron Payne
Reuben
SDH
Tim Williams
Rashaan Evans
Marlon
Minkah
Eddie Jackson
Dalvin Tomlinson
Anthony Averett
Ronnie Harrison
Lot of talent on those squads.
This years O looks epic at the skill positions

It's sad how quickly people forget how good that team was.

This team isn't the best anything till the season is over. Calm down.

I think our 2016 team would beat this one hypothetically. Of course it isn't wise to debate the worth of a team one week before the first game is played. I do expect another record setting offense if injuries are kept to minimum.

The 4 yard a carry comment hurt your credibility.

I rewatch that Clemson 2016 game sometimes and I swear it just doesn’t make sense how we lost. Yeah we were one dimensional on offense but Jesus we were so much better overall than them.

Wasn’t D’Shawn Hand also on team in 16?

The most exciting part to me is than while on the offensive side of the ball, 95% of the time the football will be in the hands of either Tua Tagovailoa, Najee Harris, Brian Robinson, Jaylen Waddle, Henry Ruggs III, Devonta Smith, or Jerry Jeudy...

There were a lot of questionable officiating calls in that game that let Clemson hang around. I'm not one to blame refs as a rule but I think we all know that there were some very questionable calls and non calls in that game. The pick plays are the obvious ones.

Hand, Raekwon Davis, Evans. The list goes on and on. That team was screwed and ESPN got what they wanted.
