I think this article shines pretty good light on why Mizzou walking into Athens at 8-0 is completely plausible. We cant continue to botch the games against SC and UK obviously... This is the year if we find out if Odom really has what it takes. If he cant compete at a high level this year I don't know if he ever will

I don't think you'll find many people to disagree that it is "plausible." The question is, is it going to happen. The schedule sets up nicely for it. And, the pieces are in place to do it, I think. But, I think we will inevitably drop a game along the way.

Certainly "plausible." I believe most have Mizzou going 6-2 in the first 8 games (losses to WVU and UofSC).

Mizzou

It's like the ghetto relative of the SEC family when I even see the name. So trashy.

I think they’ll enter the UGA game at 7-1. Think SC gets them early but 8-0 wouldn’t shock me

Possible but very unlikely. Missouri will lose to one or two of the following:

West Virginia, Vanderbilt, USCE, Kentucky.

While Missouri will have a good solid team this year, IMO they will not be 4-0 in those games above. 3-1 or even 2-2 is more likely.

I think that makes sense. But it's plausible for everyone to start 8-0.

ESPN FPI has Mizzou starting off 8-0 too fwiw. Thatd probably be a top 10 matchup against UGA if that were the case.

LSU - Bama on 11/9 as well and both projected by FPI to be undefeated going into that one too.

Why not Mizzou? If they start out 8-0 their loss on Nov 16th wont hurt so bad.

Damn that's a convenient schedule. I'd expect 10-2 at worst. Florida and TN haven't been competitve aginst them the last 2 seasons so I'm expecting them to win one if not both

I can see 10-2 for Mizzou if they stay healthy and all the bounces go their way. Unfortunately that is rare for any team. So could also be an 8-4 year.

Mizzou hasn't started a season 8-0 since 1960. They've come close to it a few times since then.

1962: 7-0-1 (lost next game @ Oklahoma)
2010: 7-0 (lost next game to Roy Helu Jr.)
2013: 7-0 (lost next game to the left upright in 2OT)

They might be undefeated... that schedule though...

Date Opponent
Aug. 31 at Wyoming
Sept. 7 West Virginia
Sept. 14 Southeast Missouri
Sept. 21 South Carolina
Oct. 5 Troy
Oct. 12 Ole Miss (Homecoming)
Oct. 19 at Vanderbilt
Oct. 26 at Kentucky
Nov. 9 at Georgia
Nov. 16 Florida
Nov. 23 Tennessee
Nov. 30 at Arkansas

So when people complain about Clemson's schedule despite the fact that they always play two additional P5 teams in USC and whatever SEC opponent is feeling frisky enough to play them and talk about how tough the SEC is... that only applies to teams from the SEC West right?

I mean its possible if not likely that Mizzou could end up 10-2 with zero top 25 wins in the vaunted SEC.

It could, indeed, happen. That's scary, too.

Btw, I'd forgotten all about Tennessee losing to Wyoming in 2008...in Knoxville, no less.

Hasn't happened since 1960. Possible yes, likely no.

Looking at your schedule and where the games are played I certainly think you could be 8-0 going into Athens. I usually would have said that WVU would give you a lot of trouble but new coaches, UK takes a step back this year and SC is certainly winnable. If you can go 8-0 then I would bet on you going at least 10-2 regular season. I think UGA will be to strong and UF should be but over the years they have played Missouri rather poorly, I would say.
