The Rant is an interesting case study for me...

You see the same mentality there out of the Pro Mainieri crowd that you did with the Pro Miles crowd. They denigrate the majority of folks who have not lowered their expectations for our program. They complain that it’s too tough to be dominant. They lecture about parity. They’ll tell folks they don’t know how good LSU has it with Mainieri.
Meanwhile, folks see a once proud program with a billboard trying to intimidate people by showing folks national titles...which we haven’t won in a decade.
Those same folks in the latter category see a part of their own fanbase who have lowered their expectations...creating a cult of personality around the coach they like. In the process, elevating the coach above the best interests of the program. Conflating wants with needs.
I’ve been off the Mainieri bandwagon for several years though I feel it’s possible to still enjoy the team and the program while being critical if not down on the coach. I’ve been there before with Miles & LSU, so it’s not altogether unfamiliar territory for me and for others I’m sure.
Do you all see any other parallels across the conference either now or in the past? Where a fanbase favored a coach more than what was best for the program they were coaching? Interested in hearing from you guys...

So then you’re ok with firing Miles to hire somebody that will get the same results as the previous coach? Little fact here but no matter who LSU would hire after Mainieri, he’ll have the same results as Mainieri. This isn’t the 90s anymore. There’s a reason why no current coach has more than 1 natty. It’s extremely difficult to win a title in baseball today

You have to fly plane banners to get things done. We may know a guy.

What are your views on Orgeron?

You might say Gus Malzahn is in the same boat. Some AU fans feel like he's beaten Saban a few times and played for a Natty as HC so we should be happy with the 8-5,7-6 turds that he routinely lays. Thompson and Pearl have proven you can be a consistent winner in sports we don't have a winning tradition in, so why not football?

I really hate to defend any LSU fans, but parity in college baseball is real. I do believe given your history, LSU should have been to the CWS more than 3x. Look at the NCs the last 10 years..
2010 SC 1st
2011 SC 2nd
2012 Arizona 4th
2013 UCLA 1st
2014 Vandy 1st
2015 Virginia 1st
2016 Coastal Car 1st
2017 Florida 1st
2018 Oregon St 3rd
This years CWS will feature 6 teams that have never won a NC.
