He has had suspension issues and was probably going to be moved off position in favor of better players at CB this year. Yes it was unexpected but at least he has reason to leave that isn’t admins refusing to grant a simple request

Hopefully he will find some playing time, maybe head over to a JUCO team and settle down his mind.

Why would you shut down your own program and how would that relate to anything LSU?

Athletic director and coach both said there was more to the story. He was getting bitched in practice by our wide receivers and was homesick. He used that as an excuse to try to get immediate eligibility.

He's leaving due to academics and weed. We played him a good bit at corner this past season due to lack of depth, he did not do great there. He's a natural safety and was moving there for this year because we have a ton of CBs coming in. At safety he would have to wait it out another year since we've got a lot of guys ahead of him there, but would have been in the thick of things to replace Delpit for 2020. He's not leaving for playing time though.
