Mississippi or Alabama? Neither have much going for them. Is Arkansas in the same category?

Mississippi. Louisiana would be the worst without them.

Thank God for Mississippi

Fayetteville is constantly voted top 5 places to live in the country, and we have Walmart/Jerry Jones money.

It's easily Mississippi.

Missouri, and it’s not even close.

At least states like Mississippi have warm weather, great food, attractive women (at least in Oxford and the $ Jackson burbs), the Gulf, and all the general enticements of southern culture.

Missouri has the same “redneck” identity as states like MS, but lacks all the desirable allures of the South. Cold weather, awful cities (ever been to St Louis?), landlocked, etc.

And to all you unpolished Alabama folks trying to claim GA as the worst, stick to your Gump towns. Sorry you can’t afford places like Sea Island or Buckhead.

In general, I’d say the southern states that are most respected outside the South are GA, VA, NC, SC, TX, and certain parts of TN and FL.

Georgia is just like AL with the exception of Atlanta. And Atlanta is a wannabe Dallas. And Dallas sucks.

Savannah is far better than anything Alabama has to offer as well. So is the St. Simons / Sea Island area. I think three different cities / areas is enough to justify claiming one state better than the other. Especially when you consider the percentage of the population that lives in Atlanta, Savannah, etc.

Kentucky or Missouri are the worse.
The major cities in Kentucky are too far North.
Louisville is pretty much Indiana.

St Louis is just a further North version of Memphis.

Big BBQ and music City.

Most of the culture in cities like St Louis and Kansas City moved North.

People wise it's West Georgia or Fulton County from a pure trash basis and it's not close. Although you need a tracked vehicle to drive on the streets of Jackson Ms. And an armored vehicle any place in downtown Atlanta.

But you've got admire the authorities there (Atlanta). They self regulate Atlanta's pop by building prisons and selling them guns and lard by the tons. However the handwriting is on the wall. Athens will be an extension of Fulton Co shortly and the Tenn and North Carolina borders get closer by the day, (and more appealing).

Missouri and Mississippi are really bad in my experience. It's like it's miserable looking even on sunny days.

Kentucky has some really nice areas IMO. Mountain views, and then there is a lot of nice lake areas on the western side as well.

I don't care much about major cities. They usually suck. Most experiences depend on the people you associate with/know and that can vary. Otherwise, it's mostly just terrible traffic and stupid laws and not worth more than a vacation/short trip - and even then the major cities likely aren't even the real draw.
