This year should be the type of year we sign 2 five star WRs. Hopefully we can pull out a surprise or two at the position.

I think Shavers and Metchie will surprise people next year. Plus we have Waddle returning. Maybe the focus isn't there because the staff heard of a possible return we don't know about yet? Idk that's speculation of course but would explain why this isn't a priority.

What are the expectations for Bolden, Townsend, and X Williams next season? Bolden seems to be a potentially dangerous slot guy, based on what we've seen. Didn't Townsend show out a little bit in a spring games? I know little about Williams.

Whether accurate or not I wasn't really overwhelmed with any of those guys coming out of HS and at the moment see 3 guys with Darius Hanks/Kevin Norwood level ability. Basically solid CFB players but I don't see a matchup problem in that group. We better hit some homeruns at WR next year
I think if there was a bg time playmaker in that group then he'd see the field despite the talent ahead of him this year. Waddle was in the rotation from his first day on campus.

Metchie is probably the best of the new bunch. I think Smitty might return giving us a dangerous 1-2 punch with Waddle but we need more elites for sure. Shavers, I just don’t know. He’s yet to show he can be more than a D Keif type of guy. Receivers ought to be beating our door down with who we’ve put into the league and how our current offense operates. I don’t understand, something is amiss there.

That's kind of a ridiculous assertion. You're basically saying that none of them have playmaking ability based on the fact that they didn't take snaps away from 4 guys who are elite playmakers. The only kind of player who would have taken snaps away from Jeudy, Smitty, Ruggs, and Waddle this year is someone like Julio. Even Mike Leach is going to have 4 WRs and a RB on the field most of the time. There just isn't a ton of PT to be had for the 5th and 6th WRs.

DO you think it's because Gusty Sunseri received a PWO offer from Alabama?

He got the PWO offer on December 3.

I think if they were in the same realm then they would've gotten more snaps despite the group in front of them, yes. We've seen that for years at the RB position under Saban. If the 3rd guy is good enough, he's going to get carries, even if two first round picks are ahead of him on the depth chart. All 3 of the top guys had bumps and bruises along the way this year and none of the aforementioned got much time anyway. It's not a ridiculous assertion at all. Correlation doesn't always have to be causation. It's pretty easy to say "they didn't play because the top 4 are just sooo good."
Yea, the top 4 are so good. My assertion is that if the other guys were better then they would still play a little more than they did in a rotational sense. Metchie lead that group with 4 catches this year. LSU has a really good group of WR's too- Mcmath and Dillon still contributed 26 catches and 5 touchdowns.
I'm basing my assertion on the film I saw out of high school and the complete lack of playing time here. If a guy shows a lot of playmaking ability in practice, usually the coaches want to give him a crack at it in a game setting to see if it translates.

I don't get why Kyle Edwards is seen as a can't miss RB prospect on this board.

I think people just trust our staff. Jacobs was a 3 star. If they recruited Edwards I'm assuming it's because he brings something that we need

I don't know what's not to like about him. I don't think he's a future first round pick by any means, but he's a thick, well proportioned athlete that looks like he can go get 5 yards a pop. I don't know about his ceiling, but I'd say he's got a pretty high floor at the next level
Posted on 12/5/19 at 11:36 am to YStar
Because ever since we found a steal of a 3 star back with Jacobs everyone is hoping the next 3 star back we're high on turns out as good.

Yeah, I don't want to rag on the guy, but I just don't see it with Edwards at all. I think even his ceiling is something like 2019 B-Rob.

Y'all always freak out about recruiting this time of year, its like clockwork.
For those worrying about WR not breaking down our door, If BY had been committed since the beginning it would be different but he was a late flip.
If you haven't learned to trust CNS and staff then we will see you again next year with the same questions and wringing of hands, LOL.

I don't think so. "The Tic Toc..." Is what he tweets when a recruit has committed to the staff but it hasn't been announced yet.

Same with Roydell Williams. I don't think either of the two committed RB are elite, but Bama needs depth at the position.
Ride Sanders and KRob next year and hopefully land a elite RB in the 21 class.

I see Edwards as a poor man's Trent Richardson. Big body, who can move the chains and will make a solid #2 back in a rotation once he's been in the system a year or two. His commitment doesn't bother me a bit. That said, if our coaches were confident that they were hitting 2 home runs in Williams and Edwards, I don't think they'd be pursing a 3rd back as hard as they are.

I hope there is some way we can flip Jase McClellan. Dude looks like the most talented RB in this class imo

People sleeping on K. Robinson do so at their own risk. If that kid can pack on 10-15 lbs of muscle and keep his speed, he's gonna be special. BRob is a solid short yardage back, but dang does he look slow. Hopefully he can do some speed/agility work this offseason and gain a step.
