How many of your former QB's would you put ahead of him.

He was a phenomenal talent.

Tommy was a great college qb. Very poised and had a great sense of what was going on everywhere on the field.

I find it hard to compare players from decade to decade. So much depends on players around the stars.

Absolutely an all time great combination of talent and guts for us. He actually bit through his tongue in a game, got stitches and came back in to lead the Tigers to a hard fought win.

Hodson was QB when I was a student. Back then I thought he was the best ever. Game was different then, but his stats are meh when i look at them now.
But some things just don't show up in the stat column.
He was damn good.

Great player.

I was excited when he signed with the Saints back in 95, but he only played a couple games.

First LSU QB I remember watching live (I was 10-13 when he was at LSU). I watched games before that, but I remember loving watching Hodson play. As others have said, it’s hard to compare across the decades, but Hodson is up there for me.

TT, Tommy was the first player I loved wearing purple and gold, had a poster of him in my room as a kid.

A GREAT QB and is forgotten among players of SEC lore.

I love Tommy Hodson, he was a badass.

I would put Tommy below Bert Jones but that’s probably it as far as pure talent.

During his 44 regular season games at LSU (1986–1989), Hodson passed for 9,115 yards and 69 touchdowns, becoming the first quarterback in SEC history to surpass 8,000 career passing yards, and the first quarterback in SEC history to surpass 60 career passing touchdowns.
Hodson passed for over 2,000 yards during each of his four seasons at LSU, becoming the third player in NCAA history to achieve that feat.

In basketball, no one.

I saw him score 48 in a 24 minute Jr. High 9th grade game in 1982 without a 3-point line. Would have been at least 55 as he could hit from 25 feet with ease.

But he picked the right sport for college.

Hodson coincided with the years I attended LSU. I’d put him as the best LSU qb since Bert Jones. He had tremendous receivers ( Wendell Davis for one ) and had great accuracy and toughness. He was 1st team All SEC ALL FOUR YEARS , won two SEC championships, threw for over 9000 yards ( which was the SEC record) , and was just a huge winner and competitor. He’s always been kind of the standard for me.

As far as LSU history goes, Tommy Hodson is in a league of his own. He really is one of the great Tigers to come through that program. Whenever you talk about the great players of LSU, he will always get a mention. He’s just too damn tough and talented to not get a mention.

A lot of heart to go with a lot of talent. He also knew how to use the talent around him. Considering he had great receivers and very good running backs and he used them all

Davis - 1st rd
Harvey Williams - 1st rd
Sammy Martin
Todd Kinchen
Tony Moss

Also his back up was very good as well. Mickey Guidry could have started for any other SEC team at the time
