LSU is to SEC baseball what Texas is to College Baseball.

Let's see.

Each team has 6 CWS titles (In the timespan that LSU won 6 titles, t.u. won 2)

Out of LSU's 7 CWS Finals appearances, they won 6. (86% hit rate)

Out of t.u.'s 12 CWS Finals appearances, they won 6. (50% hit rate)

Since joining the Big 12, t.u. has 9 CWS appearances. Over that same timespan, LSU has 11.

Since the last time LSU failed to make an NCAA Regional, t.u. has failed to make three Regionals.

It appears that, by every metric out there, LSU > t.u.

Mississippi State was really the first school to build a baseball powerhouse in the 80's with Ron Polk, and then LSU in the late 80's with Skip Bertman. South Carolina was really good when the whole conference was kind of making a better effort to be competitive and it has kind of been nuts ever since then with Florida, Vanderbilt, Arkansas, Ole Miss getting in on the action.

Wow, that’s odd .... because I could swear South Carolina played for a couple of national championships in the 70s (75 and 77) and were sending buttloads of players to the MLB even then, under Bobby Richardson and June Raines.

Miami, SC and FSU and even Clemson started taking baseball very seriously in the 70s, not the 80s.

Prior to the 70s it was all Southern Cal and the PAC 9. Before that is was the baseball only Pacific Coast League.

Before that it was almost all Ivy League.

College baseball has evolved to where it is today because the SEC and ESPN has decided to make it a revenue producing sport through the TV deal and our eastern and central time zones are conducive to making that happen.

SEC stadiums are palaces and unlike anything else in any of the other conferences ... SEC softball is fast becoming just as important and the softball parks just as impressive.

Other conferences are waaaaaaaay behind in both and that is probably most evident by the number of west coast young men AND women coming to the SEC to play baseball and softball.

You’re right about softball. We just dropped 28-30 M on a new ballpark. I think we’re picked 11th in the league and still ranked or borderline ranked.

So Texas doesn't fit your agenda

Been to almost 40 CWS.
Anyone can name the coaches who have coached at Texas for the last 100 years

LSU is a great program.

Love the fact that aggy is riding the dick of their supposed rival to insult Daddy.

Texas is the University of Texas at Omaha...
Nothing will change that

Go home. We get it... the B12 sucks arse and there are no fans to converse with in that shitty conference. We get it... you are jealous of the SEC, the fanbases, the crowds at the games. I know it sucks playing in front of 41,000 at TCU and 50,000 at Baylor and 30,000 at Kansas St. We all understand.

Still... go home.

Gigem Ags motherfricker.

Aggies have won like, 5 games in Omaha...ever.

South Carolina was winning games in Omaha 11 seasons before LSU made its first-ever appearance at Rosenblatt.

I mean, you can believe this if you want, but its not true. The TOPS program, the one that removed the income cap from TAP and made it open to all Louisiana students based only on their academic performance, wasn't signed into law until 1997. LSU went to nine CWS and won four CWS titles before it had a chance to take advantage of TOPS.

If you are going to be a troll at least be a good troll.

LSU's dominance was Gorilla Ball.
Aluminum bats that had huge sweet spots and a Rosenblatt Stadium that was much smaller

Sorry Louisiana has a scholarship program for students to get tuition paid for if they can maintain a gpa. It’s a weird thing for you to complain about. Just don’t go digging into how Vanderbilt handles their baseball scholarships, that really might make you cry some more.

Doesn't matter if it was for two weeks. NCAA records is NCAA records.....that's CWS wins in a row, and overall post-season wins in a row...

It's just hard for LSU fans to admit they're not the only dominant baseball program in the SEC.

Has it always been a big deal and a big following during the LSU dominance of the 90s or did it really become a bigger deal once the Gamecocks dynasty took place?

LSU has led the nation in average attendance every year except for 1 since 1996.

The SEC has led the nation in average attendance every year except for 5 since 1985 (the first year listed). See Page 4 Average attendance.

NCAA Attendance Records

I would say that baseball has been a big in the SEC since the late 70's to early 80's.

Our fans were showing up in droves to ball games in the 60s. I'm not even sure there were fences then. That is why left field lounge started. people were sitting on the ground and standing but there wasn't enough room so we built our own stands on cars and trucks and tractors and trailers so everyone could watch the game. When your football team punts on 3rd down so they don't lose any more yards then you have to find another sport to go all in on. That is what we did.

The only programs that haven't caught fire are Tennessee, Bama and Mizzou. Mizzou has had some damn good pitching though.

Oddly enough...Tennessee was the first SEC program to make it to the CWS finals.

LSU is clearly #1, followed by UF. Vandy and USC had a short window. Every one else has a nice season every 10 years.

We won the conference in 1909 and our team was established in 1885. That is crazy old.

MSU baseball is one of the gems of the SEC. Don't ever late haters take that away from you. It’s things like MSU fans socializing outside of the stadium, while watching the game, that make college sports unique and awesome.
