“He’s been more assertive and has a direct approach,” said senior receiver Ryan Davis. “Everything about him. His posture, how serious he is. He wants everything at his standard and a good, positive week of practice!

So NOW he expects perfection on every play? That’s great but what the hell were they doing before. Intensity and focus on perfection is what winning coaches demand. If Chip wasn’t demanding the best at practice why dudn’t Gus insert himself.

Giving control to Lindsey like everyone was bitching about he needed to do.

So it was all that lazy slob Lindsey's fault huh? I knew it!!
Well, at least the O will be potent again.

Looks like Lindsey wouldn’t rep plays over and over again until perfection was achieved.
Maybe he gave it up all the way and that is why our offense fell off so bad. I know last year we hit big but perhaps the second year of lackadaisical prep finally took a toll. Shrugs. Dunno. I want him to succeed as I think he loves auburn. But damn I don’t like 7-6 / 8-5 seasons.

Here's my guess -
Gus can be a good offensive mind and HC but often strays into ridiculous territory. Hence, he impresses, then he gets further and further away from what went well and does completely bizarre shite that costs games, then people demand he give up play calling as a result, then he meddles with the play caller and that becomes disastrous, then he retakes control and has a period of success before his issues rise to the surface again.

Remember the QB carousel against Clemson?
That is coming back against Oregon first game, bet.

I have no idea what to make of Malzahn or Lindsey and who was responsible for what. However, Malzahn has this next year to do it his way. I know what his offense is capable of with the right ingredients. He chose to wonder away from that and bring in Qb’s hat don’t fit in my opinion.
Let’s see what he can do.
15-0 Ship!

Is this 2016? Could of sworn we heard the same thing when Rhett Lashlee was scapegoated

This whole saga is very bizarre but at least this time it is definitive. If the O sucks we will know that it’s Gus. No more guessing on who’s calling plays

So, does this mean Gus doesn't hold his subordinates accountable to his own standards? Nothing about that statement should give anyone any real comfort

Nope, he is ultimately the man in charge and should have recognized something not working sooner, assuming he did nothing till the end of the season.
