The now defunct Navy 14 year streak began in 2002 and ended after the 2015 season.
I do not think it is a coincidence that Navy's streak began at the onset of major ground combat ops in Afghanistan and ended in 2015 (with Iraq major deployments having ceased and 4 years, a full recruiting and developmental cycle, after Obama's 2011 announced troop drawdown in Afghanistan, which went from 100k to less than 10k in 2015).
It certainly helps recruiting of top quality, academy oriented athletes when the end state after graduation isn't most likely a combat tour in Afghanistan or Iraq.
