What do you get for finishing second on NSD? Because I don’t remember Alabama getting anything in prior years.

I'll see the same thing you will, Sanders going to Bama, the only school he's ever seriously considered.

As I said previously in this thread, go ahead and tell yourself you finished second if it makes you feel better.

I don’t think you quite understand how much Georgia’s class is about to explode.

We will flip one or 2 and pick up some more.

It will finish close or better than Bamas

Perhaps.

But we did get some news last night detailing our actual number of signees in this class may be 30-31 instead of the 28-29 we've all been assuming.

What you do not understand is a top recruiting class does not guarantee a championship.

Correct but some of your fan base seems to think it is the only thing that matters.

There’s no such thing as a recruiting championship. Georgia and Bama will finish with far and away the best classes.

It matters more at the moment than anything else UGA could be doing to improve the football program.

UGA signed that big of a class in 2013. Disaster.

Have you read your own forum lately? Georgia is trying to build something so yeah it’s important but for it to be so trivial it sure does get talked about a lot on the Alabama board.

That was mostly because a huge portion of that class were never going to be really good players. It had a ton of filler to get numbers, especially early enrollee numbers because Richt had mismanaged the roster so spectacularly that we were going to be short on numbers to even have good practices in the spring.

Bama's group isn't really like that at all.

This.

As it stands now we have 24 commits and the highest average rating per commit in the country.

The guys left on the board will only increase that average.

I agree but some of your posters seem to think you will be able to emulate what UA is currently doing. That is not a reality. Smart will never be Saban and for that matter no one will. And before you say you know that I can go back and show many of your posters who think it is a reality. I do not care what Smart learned from Saban or what recruits you pull in each year.

The simple fact is what Saban has and is doing will never be repeated. UA currently is the luckiest fan base out there and yes we probably have a few believe this will never end but it will. But most are enjoying the ride but I doubt any coach or program will be able to ever sustain the success Saban is at UA. Does that mean Smart will not have UGA in contention more often then Richt, probably will but he will never be able to pull off what Saban has.

So Yes I applaud what Smart has done even though UGA has always gotten the talent especially instate and the fact that Smart has been more successful early on then other Saban coaches from the tree but what Saban has done will not be repeated.

I don't think that. I can't speak for others.

I do think Smart can take bits and pieces of what UA has done, adapt it for UGA, and make UGA better for it.

Smart's primary improvement in the program has been being more aggressive out-of-state instead of settling down the board in-state after missing on a top target. That, imo, is why the 2013 class happened to Richt and why the overall depth and talent eroded at UGA from 2013-2016.
