Agreed, if a coach doesn't want to come here currently he won't at the end of next year because of the roster outlook.

If having a lottery pick on the roster was a prerequisite for a coach making a move, it would rarely happen.

A coach believes his skillset and theory will be successful at a school so he takes the job. Oh and money.

Having a lottery pick isn't a prerequisite, but I don't think a good coach will want a rebuilding project right off the bat either. Add an angry fanbase to the mix and the job starts to look less attractive.

Is that why coaching searches are always so easy?

This is the biggest feather in DVH's cap, IMO. When bats were hot pre 09 we played Gorilla Ball with the best of them. When the bats were dead he recruited one of the most complete college pitching staffs ever and they responded with a historic team ERA. Fast forward to a little bit of life put back into the bats and changed to the harder MLB ball and here we are leading the SEC in offense again. He constantly has a finger on the pulse of the game.

This is an underrated take.

It will still be a rebuild next year after Mike fails to bring in any worthwhile big men, especially at the 5. And fans will be angrier after we have a losing season next year and wonder why Mike wasn’t fired sooner.

I guess you just want us to hold up on making a move until we have a class full of talented seniors that have the potential to make some noise nationally? Only change coaches when the current coach has a championship team built? Makes tons of sense.

If that's your recommendation then we should've done that last year.

There’s never a perfect time to fire a coach. You do it then deal with the immediate impact and hope the rebuild is quick, just like we are doing in football. Delaying the inevitable is a waste of everybody’s time.

Yeah and you first reasoning for it didn't make sense. If all you said was because of the buyout then that would be one thing.

Hence why I said deal with immediate impact. We could’ve kept Bert another year and gone what, 4-8 again? Then what? We would’ve wasted another year of recruiting and implementing a new system.

I find it interesting that you’ll give Anderson 8 years but won’t give Morris 2. Again, agenda, you just won’t admit what that is.

Why do you guys go to such extremes? It's like all or nothing with some of you. I never said he wouldn't have any talent, but it will be young talent and there would be transfers. He would be starting from scratch, and I don't think the fanbase is patient enough for that. I'd rather not have a Chad Morris type year in basketball.

I find it interesting that Alabama and Texas A&M are ready to pull the plug on their coaches for performing about as well as, if not better than, Mike.

There’s one in this thread and his initials are STL. You have done nothing but take shots at everything Morris has done. Blamed him for a terrible first class that he had two weeks to sign, give zero credit for signing a good class despite only winning 2 games. Won’t look realistically at what he inherited and is trying to do (just like he did at SMU) Just “he only won 2 games!?! He sucks, etc”
