Now that long-time WMS sympathizer Wally Hall has thrown in the towel, effectively ending the GSD, it's time to move on from the NWA vs LR blood bath to a more interesting competition.
The Benton County delegation (myself and HRV) brings in its first damning piece of evidence:

This is settled science.
Fayetteville is still the overall best town for younger people. One day, Bentonville will probably surpass it totally, after another Walton Billion is invested in cool shite.
For now, we have the hills, the history, the buildings, but Bentonville has better mountain biking, restaurants, and that big ole art museum.
Most of Bentonville is kinda ugly, though.

People are already freaking out about AMP parking

Also, for the record, I'm totally chill with Fayetteville becoming a suburb to Benton County.
I hope the majority of the metro's growth continues to happen far away from my neighborhood. It isn't like Fayetteville isn't busting at the seams already. We now have a lunch-hour rush-hour along Joyce and N. College Ave, and its ridiculous.

quote:Depends on how young the young person is. The University and Dickson will always be in Fayetteville, so college aged kids will always prefer it. Young adults, 24-30 working for the death star or JBH or vendors seemingly already prefer the more professional atmosphere at the northern brew pubs. There is a world of difference between the crowd at Columbus House Brewery vs Bike Rack Brewery.

As you get older, loud and obnoxious music blaring in your ears and having to yell to be heard by the person 2 feet from you means you spend less time on Dickson.

I knew bidding/construction was about to begin. I spoke with a GTS(geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing) employee who just the other day took 2 proctors from that location.
I cannot friggin wait
All those restaurants and businesses are about to take off too. For whatever reason people haven't flooded those establishments over the years, but that's about to change.

Also the final piece of construction on i49 is beginning on the walnut exit in Rogers. I don't know why they took so damn long. It will be the only Single Point Urban Interchange in the state.
I have no idea how they are going to make it work on that exit, but hopefully it won't take over a year.

Since no one has signed up for the Washington Co. delegation, I will take on that role as well.

I'm not well liked on the Arkansas board here - you may have just made a few enemies

It's basically two counties in one, or maybe better said... two counties that need each other and feed off of each other.
A high speed railway is expected to go in from Bentonville to Fayetteville to alleviate interstate rush hour traffic
I think Bentonville needs a small arts college like Stephens College in Columbia MO down the street from Mizzou. That's one huge missing piece of the puzzle for Bentonville, an 800 to 1200 enrollment college with a few minor sports, targeted at theater, arts and music education. It would seem to fit here. Call it Bentonville College or Walton College. As of now, we feel like a college town without a college.

Surprised Alice hasn't already done it yet.
I know people in the Arts departments at UA are tired of her expecting Ivy League-level results in her grants to the school

well I guess it's still a big secret what the current Walmart HQ will become after they move HQ over to J Street/Central/14th St area
Already cafeterias and office space obviously. Although I doubt any little quaint college would want that ugly arse current HQ to be their facilities

No one ever talks about Siloam Springs. We're the red headed step child of NWA.
