The SEC headquarters is in Birmingham, AL. I accept it. It's gotta be somewhere in SEC country and you have to accept it will be in the same SEC state as an SEC team.

My issue is officiating crews with conflict of interests.

Why can't you pick an officiating crew that has no direct associations with the two teams playing. Why should an LSU alum officiate an LSU game. Why should an Alabama alum officiate an Alabama game? The same goes for NFL teams.

Conflict of interest is a huge deal in business across the country? Why not the money making machine of football?

The SEC already does this.

The south is pretty damn large, officials should not have attended any school in the conference. There are plenty of people that could do the job in the south that have not ties to the universities in question.

So you're advocating discrimination in the hiring process based on having attended a SEC school?

Interesting.

I wish we could do a scientific poll of the percentage of LSU fans that don't know this is already in place.

You would be eliminating many of the best referees available.

Some conferences have a rule that you cannot officiate a game if your alma mater is involved. I know that for a fact because I had a good friend who officiated for 25 years in the old SWC and Big 8 and he was never allowed to do a Baylor game, his alma mater.

It used to be that way in the ACC as well.

The SEC used to have a review board made up of retired officials that would each be sent a game on Sunday to review from the previous Saturday. Another buddy of mine was part of that, they would meet a couple of times a year to join minds. I think they quit doing that a few years ago though.

There really does need to be a better system of checks and balances in this Conference though. There have been too many times when officials have had too much influence in key matchups. It's difficult to imagine at times that they are all just coincidental.

It's not always about in-conference stuff either. There have been times when it's been about bowl placement or getting one more team into the BCS and so on.

Just too many instances out there for it to always be coincidental.

Alabama alumni are not permitted to officiate Alabama games. The same goes with any other schools alumni.

The SEC has that rule.
