Not sure if it’s the case for you, but if the metallic cap on the black part gets dirty, it won’t connect to your phone. Using it for smoking dirties it up eventually. Cleaning it with a sponge solved the problem for me.

Does your insurance policy cover a plumbing leak? If you don't know, I'd call your insurance company first and see if they would cover the repair for you.

I’m a big fan of merino wool, but I’ve been getting ads for alpaca lately. Anyone use it for layering? What do you think of it?
