LSU secondary is legit but I think if we can get them tired early with quick slants we can get them to cheat up and then we can burn them on deep routes

Hope you are right. If Bama can get pressure with 4 LSU is gonna get boatraced.
O and Ensminger are old school. I expect them to come out and try to use the power run game to control the clock and keep Tua off the field. I am much more interested in how we do against that than I am worried about Burrow.

I doubt that will cut it. The way Alabama's team is playing, it's going to take more than a game manager. If Burrow can't make at least 6 or 7 big plays in the passing game LSU can't win. LSU can not win this game with their defense alone. If they don't score at least 30, they're toast.

I can def see him hitting some back shoulder throws against us early in the game. Despite his mediocre numbers I actually see a pretty decent qb with big bodied receivers. Will be interesting to see how well we hold up in the run game. That will be the difference imo whether LSU is closer their usual meh offense against us or scoring 20 or more

Watching his best game (UGA) and his worst (UF) I’d say he’s about average. Like everyone said won’t win or lose necessarily. If he just flustered and they get behind that’s where he started making mistakes against UF. Throwing behind and in front of the receivers. I think LSU will test our ability to stop the run and kind of base their plan off of that. We will need the heavies in early to stop that.

I think that This L7U team is completely different from the last 7 years. This team does not have a great Oline and does not have that great running back to stop. It is done by committee mixing in RPO with Burrow to negate there weaknesses at Oline. They also will attempt a lot of 4downs in an effort to keep there Defense off the field.

JPW is much better than Joesus. Never was sure why JPW got shite on here as much as he has. He played on some fairly limited teams until 2008 and he still put up decent numbers.

Don't insult Greg McElroy. McElroy threw for over 60% in both of his seasons as the starting QB. In his senior season he completed nearly 71% of his throws.

Joe Burrow vs Miami, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi State
76/150 (51%)
182 YPG
6.1 YPA
1 TD/3 INT
Joe Burrow's Last 3 Games (@ UF, UGA, MSU)
50/92 (54%)
174 YPG
5.66 YPA
0 TD / 3 INT
He gets them in the right play and stuff, I guess, but as a passer he is Brandon Harris/Jalen Hurts 2017 level.

This LSU team kinda reminds me of the 08 Bama team. This years Bama team kinda reminds me of the 08 Florida team.

A reminder; this is his first time facing Alabama. he has never played against elite team like Alabama. I really think he will struggle with 4 man front rush.

I'm not knocking JPW, he was a respectable QB. But these two guys are very similar in skill set and production. Also our 2008 Bama team I think is actually a lot like this years LSU team. Good, but with some noticeable deficiencies.

Kind of surprises me. I remember JPW throwing more TDs. I would have guessed 15 or so. I guess they are pretty close.

Me too. LSU is going to try to control the clock with small ball. Just nickel & dime their way down the field. I mean, that's time-tested way to beat a high octane offense with gamechangers like Tua. I even think LSU will try a fake or onsides in order to steal a possession.
Part of me wants to shock & awe early with a few quick scoring plays to get LSU out of their gameplan. I'll take it, but I also think that as long as we move the ball early and control the tempo of the game, we'll be fine. UGA's mistake was not taking the points when they faked the FG. A FG there would've calmed things down and caused LSU (and the crowd) to settle in. Just survive the first few possessions when LSU is foaming at the mouth and then start making their arse quit.
The last thing Burrow wants is to get into a track meet against Tua.

Pretty good breakdown. LSU will absolutely try to control every bit of that clock. We need our Def to stop them and get some punts.

UGA's mistake was repeatedly trying to beat LSU through the air well after it had become clear that it wasn't going to happen and despite the fact that Holyfield and Swift were killing them on the ground. It doesn't get a lot worse than Jim Chaney's playcalling in that game. That was some Sark level bullshite.

Absolutely. UGA made a ton of mistakes in that game. Total mismanagement by Kirby on a number of levels.

Yep, agree on the FG fake and the general gameplan.
They got antsy and didn't trust themselves and their steady and efficient run game. Cheney has a history of doing that, too.

LSU was dropping 7 or 8 on basically every 2nd and 3rd down the entire game, and UGA kept throwing underneath and intermediate passes into the teeth of the coverage. It was one of the dumbest, most bizarre gameplans you will ever see. Very reminiscent of Sark's "QB sweep to the right x40" 2nd half plan against Clemson.
