One of my favorite activities has boomeranged and nearly cut my head off. That activity being consumption of cold beers.
I now find myself at a McLean treatment facility in central Massachusetts after a doctor showed me lab results that convinced me that my ALT and AST enzymes indicate that if I continue on my path I'll die an alcoholic death.
I don't think sobriety is an easy thing to do and I need help from above as humbling as it is to post this.
I'm a little confused from the detox meds and will have to very reluctantly withdraw from the Hunger Game; if possible and allowed by JD and my fellow players I'd like TM to have my spot and represent me with honor.
Please keep me in your thoughts.
Your buddy,
RhodeDawg

I face a similar issue myself. Stress caused most of it. You have to put family first. Look at what you have, and be strong. Prayers sent.

Onward...
Say that word every day. If you fall down, get back up and say it again.
You've got this, man.
Who knows. It might not feel like it now, but maybe the best chapter of your life is just beginning. Onward mf'er….

You have taken the first and most difficult step to a much better life. Stay positive. I've often been able to change bad habits by writing to myself the positive thoughts every day as reinforcement. I don't understand it but there is something magical about writing.

Rhode, sorry to hear this, buddy. But rest assured, God will give you the way if you seek it earnestly.
This is one of those things I've never really struggled with. I don't have the compulsion for it (frankly hate the taste of most beer). But, my best friend in high school hit rock bottom about 14 years ago. He eventually got himself sober and replaced drinking with rock climbing. My father-in-law is an alcoholic. Has been sober for at least 20 years. Drinks nothing but NAs now as he loves the taste. Had a coach in high school that I really liked and he passed during my junior year of cirrhosis of the liver.
Bottom line, be like the first two and not the latter. Figure it out before it kills you. You can do it and we're all here for you. Takes a lot of guts to lay down your pride and admit you have a problem, so you've already cleared the tallest hurdle. Keep your head down and chop wood.
Godspeed, friend.

Best of luck to you and your family. You can do it. Stay positive and understand that life and other things will replace that void. Go Rhodes! And Go Dawgs!

Just prayed for you and your recovery. It’s a blessing that you were able to find out about it before it was too late.
Look to Christ who is capable of healing both the body and the soul, and no matter what happens in this life, you will not regret it.

Holy shite man. I truly hate to hear that.
Be tough. You control your body and it just boils down to making a decision. You can do this and will probably have a better more fulfilling life moving forward.
Where there any symptoms or was just from the blood work?
