Kirby shite

I like Kirby and wish him the best - but Kirby Smart isn't Nick Saban or any other reincarnation of any great coach. Kirby's an average guy with average intelligence who was in the right place at the right time. He didn't fight and claw and outsmart everyone else in the college and pro football coaching world to get where he is. Kirby got lucky the day he met Saban. Kirby wouldn't be the Georgia head coach if the Georgia Bigs weren't hoping and praying he could emulate what he learned from Saban. But there's a fly in the ointment. Unlike Kirby Saban got where he is because he's a friggin genius. I think Kirby will have a decent career but he won't create anything resembling a dynasty at Georgia. Think Pay Dye at Auburn. Sabans career and Alabama's dynasty is the result of Sabans intellectual horsepower, his incredible influences including his father, coaching experiences, and personal choices he made at every level of football - and Alabamas inherent winning tradition - an advantage that makes the Alabama job the best in college football. Saban quit a job as a successful Head Coach at Toledo after a 9-2 season in 1991 for a Coordinator position under Belichick in Cleveland because he knew he needed more experience and he wanted to learn from the best mind in the game. Kirby hasn't done or experienced or attempted to do any of that. Kirby doesn't have the gray matter to compete with Saban in any significant way. The only thing Kirby has going for him is his experience with Saban and rich high school recruiting in Georgia. Saban is a generational coach - maybe the GOAT. Kirby is just an average coach who had the good fortune to get the opportunity to work under Saban.
