Did he learn from his past mistakes? He has had success every since he left Miss. Is it that hard to win in Oxford?

This isn’t a response thread, but it’s also not not a response thread

Excellent defense, loads of talent, gets kids to play hard. It's not like it's a secret.

Orgeron is an old school football purist who understands the game.
He comes off as a guy who was cut straight from FB cloth.
Plus he cares about his team, and he doesn’t GAF what others think.
I’ve always been a fan of the guy and hope he does well in BR.

yep

I think getting passed over for the USCw job, and then finding himself as a interm coach again, and nailing the job down this time is the best evidence that the man learns from his mistakes. I bet USCw is kicking themselves for their mistake now. But you know what?, "fook dem"!

You do realize he has very good talent don't you? If recruiting rankings meant anything (and they sorta do, but not always) LSU should have won by more. I also give him credit for realizing he needed good coordinators. Auburn fans knew that Ensminger was pretty good from his years at Auburn. I think Auburn's DC was the one who got outcoached, and he has already stated it was his fault and took the blame.

I'm going to be honest and say he's done better than I expected, so I was wrong. But it still feels like he's been luckier than, well, Gus himself. Since I'm being honest, though, I admit that I can't point to anything empirical to justify that statement. I can say more confidently that, as surprisingly competent as he's been, I don't see him as LSU's messiah coach to take them to the national title.

I think you're the same LSU you've been for the past decade. Good D, great talent, mediocre offense but enough to win a lot of games.

But yeah I absolutely think O has learned and grown as a coach. The problem is I think there is a ceiling. He doesn't bring the next level aspect that Saban, Meyer, etc... do. He's a good coach, but honestly it's surprising to see you guys settle for just good.

Huh? I must have missed this. He’s employed, I give him that. But he’s been fired from every job he ever had, including (lol) ole miss, right? And isn’t he on the hot seat still?

I don’t think LSU has changed at all since Miles. They can go 8-4 or 10-2. Their talent always gives them a look at the basket. I honestly don’t think O has anything to do with it.
