Same shite they were saying last year, yet Auburn is 0-2 vs. Edward.

Sucks to suck.

All things considered, now that I've watched the game, rational fans -- so about 3 people here on the Rant -- would agree to say the teams were pretty evenly matched overallm with LSU edging Auburn in the end.

True. The difference was Auburn did nothing with the ball late, and LSU had an extended drive at the end with competent clock management.

I shouldn't have to mention clock management, but Les Miles.

Auburn is still probably a better team, that game should have been 28-31 to 13 in the 4th. They dicked around and got bit. I still exoect LSU to lose 3-4 games. Winning consistently with that level of QB play generally isn’t sustainable in a tough conference.

Stupid to bitch about the officiating though. Outside of the ref incorrectly calling PI instead of defensive holding on the first third down of the winning drive (both a first down anyway), all the penalties were correct calls.

this is a fair assessment and is probably why they were very close in yards, first downs, score, etc. The difference in the game was TOP, TO margin STs, and a big one...3rd down conversations.

I know Auburn fans will point out penalties, but LSU also had 9 penalties for over 90 yards. Auburn's last drive to put them ahead before half was extended due to an unnecessary roughing the passer call on 3rd down. The refs weren't letting anything go Saturday, and both teams suffered as a result. But they were at least consistent for the most part. I just hate hearing "you can't call PI at that point in the game." Why not? If it was PI in the first quarter, it should be PI in the 4th.

We’ll see

I see Auburn finishing 9-3 and LSU 8-4.

The talent on both teams is very even, however, LSU clearly has some intangibles that Auburn does not which have resulted in back to back come from behind victories. Better conditioning? Mental toughness? Moxie QB? All of these in some combination ?

The moxie QB thing has been a touch overblown. He was 2-6 for 17 yards and a couple short scrambles on the game winning drive. 30 yards worth of PI played a huge role.
