We all know you're set up for failure this year being led by O, having a sub-par OC, a much less talented running game, and a very unfavorable schedule.

Are you actually looking forward to 2018 or really just focusing on 2019 and hopefully a new coach to go along with it?

I am also interested. I remember wondering in previous years if losing was better for the long term health of the program to get Sumlin Fran or Sherman fired. Of course that was before we landed an elite coach like we have now. How do LSU fans feel about this, provided you could do what we have already done?

It will be a terrible season considering Orgeron is HC.

But they will still beat A&M again

Absolutely they have a nice recruiting class and could finish in Top 5. People are to quick to dismiss LSU. They will be dangerous if Burrow is the guy and able to keep him healthy.

They will be bad. 6-6. Maybe 7-6 if they draw a good bowl match

My post just seems to have angered everyone, but why is no one actually answering it? Did I hit the nail on the head? Does the truth hurt?

Every year matters in Baton Rouge.

Idk how you folks do things elsewhere but EVERY SINGLE season is important around here.

Might be different to Aggie fans who are used to getting their shite pushed in by the respective kings of the conferences they’ve been in.

77-0 Oklahoma over a&m
59-0 Alabama over a&m
7 wins in a row LSU over a&m
Longhorns owning a&m

Long story short, we aren’t used to mediocrity in the Big6 SEC.

They'd be a lot better off if it doesn't. They're gonna beg for basketball season to start after about mid October.

Not excited about this year. Think we might be pretty decent next year, but this year feels like the 90's again (and I don't mean 97).

You're trolling, but heck, I'll answer-

Yes, it matters. Not "we're gonna whip you again" and all that.

We fired Miles, we let frustration and lack of patience get the better of us as a program. Miles was stagnant and Saban has Alabama not just above us, but pulling away. So we did an extended, painful lynching over the end of 15 and into 16.

We finished 16 by missing out on big name coaches, and naming Orgeron as the man. That left a lot of us stunned going into 2017, and by the time Miss St and Troy beat us, it was a dazed "what have we done?" moment.

Team turned it around against Auburn and seemed to get some momentum; but that went sideways again with the loss to Notre Dame and Canada dismissal.

So now, this team is at a crossroads. O has promoted Ensminger in a move to replicate the staff that he had to finish '16, the staff that basically earned him the job. He's retained Aranda in a bidding war to try to keep the defense together, and managed to get a gift QB via transfer.
We enter this season hopeful, but scared. Hopeful like any new season (and maybe finally with the elusive QB we've lacked), scared because we should find out if we're about to become irrelevant.

O needs this team to challenge, or I think he loses the base.

2018 is a mulligan year. They believe that they have a national championship team in 2019.
