Johnny Griffith from GA who took over from Wally Butts has got to be one of the worst. A record of .400 during his three year span.

The guy from Kentucky that thought Tim Couch should be running the option.

Jack Crowe at Arkansas deserves a mention
9-15, lost to the Citadel and was fired in September
You know you are really bad when you don't last long enough to lose 20 games (with a losing record of course)

Only one coach led a team protest that nearly shutdown an entire university.

Didn't realize that.
Anyway, I don't think any roster in SEC history compares to what Will Muschamp inherited at USCe. Seriously Spurrier himself admitted it was barely FCS caliber.

It's worse than Crooms in my mind. At least Croom had a good season. And Croom took over a far worse situation.
Not to mention what makes this situation worse is that Mississippi State hired Felker over Spurrier.
I doubt many coaches beyond Croom wanted to take over a job to work under Templeton following a nuclear bomb being dropped on State by the NCAA.

If we are going by facts and not unpopular opinions of the coaches then how can it not be Brad Scott?
He was absolutely the worst D1 coach ever to have existed. He was so bad he left just the right players on the roster with chemistry enough to where Lou Holtz couldnt win 1 game the following year after taking over in 1999.
Brad Scott made some damn good Heinz ketchup commercials though....."its even good on tigers"!! lol

Scott was bad but we have clearly seen more than one name in this thread that was much worse.

Rockey was the typical State hire. Homeboy who was only about 33 years old with no coordinator experience. He had only been a position coach. He came on the cheap also. I don’t think people realize how little the State administration cared about football, oh until around 2008 when Byrne was hired.

Has anyone said Coach O at Ole Miss??
Overall: 10-25

That’s special right there

So far ... I have to go with O.

I'd love to count Mike Price but it just wouldn't be fair to coaches who have coached a game and put forth the effort for this honor.
So... I nominate O. Just the coaching job he did at Ole Miss was legendary. Give credit where credit is due.

Whitworth will never be passed here. Winning 4 games in 3 years .....at Alabama? With Bart Starr? Damn, u had to TRY to lose to be that abysmal.
Bryant took those players and won a national title 2 years later.

During Sparky's tenure he had 2 teams invited to the Independence Bowl. Our AD at the time had no vision and rejected the bowl invitations because they could interrupt exams. They were never committed to winning football games at USC until Lou Holtz came in. Sadly those teams could've used the extra practices etc. It made me hate King Dixon for sure
Could not agree with you more.
Sparky was definitely not the worst .... it was, by far, Fat Bradstard Scott.
That fat bastard set us on a 21 game losing streak that only Lou Holtz could have saved us from. If thr fat bastard had not been fired the streak could have gone on for years. He was that bad.

I remember when the players tried to attempt a mutiny on Sparky after an 0-5 start. The next week they proceeded to whip State’s arse when we were 4-1 and ranked #15. Sparky later became an assistant at State in the late 90’s and early 2000’s where I had some dealings with him. He was a good dude.

Hugh Freeze?
All of that cheating and nothing to show for it but humiliation.
