Respect the desire to keep playing football but theres no way in hell I'd turn that down.

The sport he should have done in the first place.

I had no idea he was any good. He sucked major arse last year and apparently didn't show much at A&M. He should 100% be gone.

All bias aside, you’re set for life with the signing bonus alone, and will play a sport that won’t give you CTE and spit you out in 3 years. He’d be a fricking idiot to not take the money and run.

He was injured his senior year of high school and only played DH, so scouts didn't have as much to go on.

He's still playing football this year. He's also signing that contract. They'll likely agree to a lower signing bonus. But he's definitely still playing football this year.

No way he’s playing football if he isn’t the starter. And he still has to compete for the job from what I know

Even if he is the starter he should leave

I have no idea why Oakland would be cool with him playing football this fall. Have they never seen any tape? The dude straight quit that one Auburn game b/c they hit him to hard. His body is too slight for them to let him take that kind of risk.

You don't think OU along with the Murray family knew he was being drafted this high? I guarantee you they did. Lincoln Riley said about a week ago that Kyler was definitely playing football this year.

Oakland is going to get a top shelf talent at a discount. He will sign, but it won't be for $4.8 million. They'll get a reduced rate because of the football. Word was, he would sign for anything north of $3 mil.

I’m sure they did when the comments were made. But I’m telling you he isn’t going to sit on the bench all fall if he could be playing fall/winter ball instead. That would be idiotic

And I understand how the draft works and how it benefits the A’s

Because they will get a huge discount on his signing bonus by letting him do it and utilize the extra signing pool money with that savings

and when he inevitably hurts his shoulder getting tackled they'll feel like complete idiots.

Not if they lock up a great draft class. That move is as much about the players they can get behind him in the draft with the extra money as it is about him. If he gets hurt he will have all winter to rehab anyways

My biggest problem with Murray as a baseball prospect is that he’s pretty raw and he’s 21. Raw athletic ability is a plus when you’re 18 with time to be molded by your organization, not so much when you’re 21

There's also the argument that he has never fully focused on baseball, and has a ton of untapped potential. And he was pretty dang good this year.
