As SEC fans we’ve been blessed with some great coaching rivalries through the years in this conference: Bryant-Dye, Spurrier-Fulmer, Saban-Meyer, and most recently Sumlin-Hard Work and Tennessee coaches - Tennessee fans.

The mentor-disciple aspect adds a special element to this matchup between two of the greatest of our time. Jimbo has already targeted Saban on the recruiting trail, flipping two Alabama commits last minute on signing day this year. IMO this will go on to surpass all of the rivalries listed above and rank among the best in sport

But Saban doesn’t lose to his disciples.

Saban will retire in 3 years and Jimbo will have moved on. Bama is all-world and TAMU is bottom tier of the West. This will never be a coaching rivalry.

Starting in 2020, A&M vs. Bama will be the CBS night game for years to come

You must not have heard, Jimbo got a 10 year contract. He isn’t moving on in 3 years.

Neither is Nick probably.

I thought Bowden is his mentor, going back to his days at WVU HC when Fisher grew up. also was part of the reason he went to baby bowden at samford

Jimbo can go have great coaching rivalries with the other Sons of Saban.

Daddy doesn't fraternize with his lessers

You can’t have more than one? I mean, Saban does. Don James, George Perles, and Bill Belichick...

You guys are going to have to get over that LSU glitch first. They seem to be the team that has your number.

Only one is at a program that has a spiritual connection to Bama.

He lost at least 3 games in 5 of his 8 seasons, including his last 3.

They competed on the national stage in 2013/2014. They started out with lofty preseason expectations, lost early and never again entered the national title picture in 2012, 2016 and 2017.

You hired Les Miles. Could have done a lot worse, but just admit it and adjust expectations.
