UFMatt: Dude, it's time to give up on Franks. After two and a half seasons and he started an entire year, he looks virtually the same just without the turnovers because he was playing the second team defense.

I will give up on him when the coaching staff gives up on him, like it or not there is a good chance that he will be our QB in 2018. Last year I said he wasn't ready, I don't see much improvement so far, so I still don't think he is not ready, but if the coaches think he is our best option to win football games, what are as fans supposed to do except support the team? If he ends up being the starter maybe he will prove us all wrong.

No, there's not. It's not that I don't think he's a big sweetheart, but I will go on record saying he will not be the QB. A lot of writers said beforehand that the reason Trask and Scarlett were paired up and the majority of the receivers that were good being on the Blue team while facing the best defensive pass rush was a good sign that they're going with Trask.

Similarly, count how many passes Franks has in the middle of the field. Now go look at the last drive of LSU vs. Florida. He'll be a back up and honestly, after seeing how Jones tossed a few over the middle, I could see him passing up Franks before this camp is over.

I hope you are right but keep an open mind, we won't pick the starting QB, we just have to hope the coaches pick the one that gives us the best chance to win games. I refuse to judge in advance who that will be. Who is is may be a indicator of what kind of season we will have.

I was finally able to watch the full replay. Franks has the talent, but it looks like he doesn't have the right stuff in between his ears.

I'm well aware that we fans don't get to pick, and that I might sound closeminded by I'm being serious. Go watch how many passes he has over the middle of the field. Not a single completion (from the highlights). It severely hamstrings the offensive playcalling when he's at Center.

Look at it in contrast to Trask -- he has passes on the perimeter and several very nice passes right down the pipe splitting defenders.

It's not that I'm saying Mullen's listening to me, but I am saying that Franks does not have the mental tools to play the position. His vision is just not there.

Keep in mind that those are like, 5th string defensive players on the field. Most of those guys aren't even 3 stars so it's really easy to make Jones look a lot faster than he is, and those coverages were awful -- also no real blitzes outside of one (a good read and toss).

1) While Franks can hit the deep bomb downfield, he doesn’t make enough plays in the second level. It’s usually either the deep shot or short passes. Trask has looked more proficient attacking the middle of the field, which again, was an element of the passing game that was glaringly lacking last fall.

I had said this much earlier in the day, obviously, and I noticed it when Trask was hitting those passes. That's the one pass Franks just doesn't have, and unfortunately it's one of the most important.

Jake Allen is gone. Hope that doesn’t hurt us with Aquinas athletes. It does give us an extra scholly though

Getting Allen sure as shite didn't help with STA kids; I can't imagine him transferring would hurt us.

Didn't do anything. I really liked Allen but it was seriously obvious that he doesn't have the skillset for the offense.

I felt that something was up with Allen, I believe he had told the coaches he was leaving prior to the spring game. Well, I wish him good luck wherever he lands, unless that is FSUcks or SCum. He seemed to be a good kid and he was accurate in his statement that he wasn't a good fit for Coach Mullen's offense.

Joe Burrow to Florida is picking up a little steam. We're in a good spot because I think Meyer would talk up Mullen and try to keep him out of the Big X if at all possible.

Joe Burrow at Florida would be a big deal for the QB position.

According to people who regularly attend the practices, Trask is way ahead of Franks right now.

I think what sold me is that I cracked his inability to throw over the center of the field. The problem with Franks is he couldn't do it in high school, and now after two and a half years in college he can't do it.

But if Trask gets hurt, we're in shite tons of trouble because it's between him and Jones..

However, if Joey comes to Florida, we back baby.
