yeah but seems too green for an OC role.. think he is going to be their applewhite.
Harbaugh is their OC and gameplanner... Gattis their to be a recruiter and help gameplan.

Haha, yeah I don’t think it was the right move for Michigan but what can you do.

Gattis got that job for his recruiting prowess and to infuse some big-play dynamics into Michigan's offense. I think Harbaugh sees his style won't defeat Ohio State who is loaded athletically.

Jim Harbaugh: Josh Gattis will ‘run the whole offense’ at Michigan
“When coach Harbaugh called it kind of caught me off-guard. The funny thing about it, I had just left a meeting with (Alabama coach) Nick Saban getting my butt chewed out for about 20 minutes telling him I was leaving, and he was trying to get me to stay. It did not go over well. If there was a Band-Aid for that bruise it was that phone call (from Harbaugh). It was exciting to hear his voice.”

Can someone with a Rivals subscription summarize this:
Rivals100 LB Grimes knows when he will announce his decision
____________________________________________________
Basically it says he will announce at the Under Armor next year and take his recruitment to Feb. Winning is important and Alabama and Clemson are two that will make his final cut.

Of course Gattis would go in on robinson... Have to wonder if he didn't like Lock's not being more ruthless about the DMV guys and Maryland
Locks has been around long enough to know that one or two players aren't worth burning your bridges over. Gattis seems to be a lot like Kirby.

I guess that's why several familiar names are popping back up for these staff positions. The process ain't for everybody.

Rivals releases their Top 100 sometime today. They have only released the Top 10 so far, but you can still see the old Top 10 on the right side of their main page.
We know the following players have been dropped:
WR Theo Wease
OT Darnell Wright
ATH Bru McCoy
CB Andrew Booth

Riveting story. Except it didn't happen. Out of all the dozens of Saban assistants that have taken promotions over the years, Gattis happens to be the one that he decided to chew out over it, huh?
Never a dull moment, or a non-dramatic spin from Harbaugh.

Byron Young
Young is one of the most consistent defensive linemen I’ve evaluated over the last 18 months. He helped his team play for a state title, he had a strong week in San Antonio as an All-American and he is committed to Alabama, so there is a lot to like about Young.
"When breaking his game down, he has shown the ability to play the five or three-technique on the defensive line. He is very strong at the point of attack and he is athletic enough to get up the field to disrupt things in the backfield. I would not say Young is flashy, but he is effective, consistent and at times, dominant in the trenches. He has made a strong case to make a move into the Rivals100 with his play in the last month on the biggest stages." -- Chad Simmons, Southeast analyst
Young is currently ranked #127 overall.

From reading the Detroit News it seems Gattis was surprised by so many teams contacting him for the OC position and thats what made him decide to move on. Michigans offer was the icing on the cake and who can blame him for leaving for that.
But it does feel like he may have wanted out of here anyway.

According to Gattis, it seems like he told Nick he was out before he even heard from Harbaugh. It's not surprising to me that Nick would be pissed that Gattis said he was leaving after one year without even having a destination.
My whole takeaway from all of this is thank God for the early signing period.

Alabama offers 2020 offensive lineman, Sedrick Van Pran
Sedrick Van Pran Highlights

Alabama offered 2020 offensive lineman, Sedrick Van Pran, on Monday.
Pran is a 4-Star offensive guard out of New Orleans, Louisiana. He holds a total of 16 offers. The Tide’s offer gives him seven SEC offers and it is one that left him with a great feeling.
“It feels great,” Pran said. “Alabama is a power house.”
Alabama linebacker coach, Pete Golding, visited Pran to inform him of Alabama’s offer.
The Tide has had its fair share of successful offensive lineman at the Capstone during the Saban era. This year, they look to have produced the top offensive tackle in Jonah Williams. This lineage and the success Alabama has had over the last decade is something of interest to Pran.
“Their dynasty is amazing,” Pran said. “It is a true credit to the hard work everyone has put into the program over the years.”
Nick Saban and company is gearing up for their Junior day on Jan. 26, which is invite only. Pran received an invitation and plans on attending.
