If game is low scoring, no one is talking about kicker/ punter. Ours are very good

I think Bama's punter is legit. How is their kicking game?

In a game of field goals, this guy accepts the challenge....

Special teams smack talk.

Lord, let's get this game going before it gets worse.

After converting our DT into a receiver last week, word is Payne will be taking over kicking duties

Their kicker (Andy Pappanastos) is decent. He was an Ole Miss kicker and transferred out after he lost the job to Gary Wunderleg. Will make most short FGs and a few medium to long ones.

I think that's how his name is spelled but idk

I could see this, a defensive battle with kicking being a very important thing. Bama has an outstanding punter, not sure on placekicker. I do know their punter has the ability to change the field, and starting around the 20 gives that great defense a huge advantage.
Special teams could be huge in this game, I think both defensive units will somewhat control the flow, turnovers and special teams will decide the champ.

Exactly, which is why is was a bit surprised some folks didn't like the question. Oh well

Bamas punter is the best; Papagiorgio has had an above average season.

kicking game will be extremely important. Alabama needs the short field for their offense. Georgia would love to have short fields as well.

Clemson got absolutely killed in the kicking game.

Another Bama poster seemed to think Bama has a significant edge at punting over on our boards... I get that you guys have had so few return yards this year, but I wouldn't say it's a significant edge... it realistically could be a wash. We're top 4 or 5 in the country in net punting yardage... Bama was like in the 20-30 range (looked it up the other day, not doing it again. )

Return yardage is a natural byproduct of having to kick farther... if you can kick shorter, you can sky it more and force fair catches... Bama has had a *significant* edge in starting field position all season, which has allowed you many times to not need to "flip the field" so much as just pin them deep or at least prevent any kind of special teams "big play" moment...

Niazalek has been every bit as good of a punter as Bama's... no knock on your guy... because he's been excellent.

Bama has arguably the best punter in the nation. Kicker is good on short FG's, mediocre on medium, and we don't even try long ones (45+). Either punt to pin deep or go for it on 4th down--which is actually been awesome for us this year. I'd say special teams are a wash.

No, you have a good punter, better than ours IMO, but he's not the best punter in the nation.

One thing JK does really well is pin the ball inside the 20. We need him to struggle with a little bit of adrenaline when he tries to do that in this game.

In this game it is so important with both teams having great defense I would almost be willing to kickoff to start the game and to start the third quarter. That is if both defensive units do what I think they will do in this game and be a wall not letting the other team move the ball.

Of course after saying this watch both offensive teams move the ball up and down the field and we have a score fest.

I said ARGUABLY the best punter in the nation. You can definitely make an argument he's the best based on how few returns he gives up, how many times he pins teams inside their 10 and 20 yard lines and how many times he bombs 50+ yards when we need it. He is ARGUABLY the best punter. And will definitely be the best punter Monday night. He will be playing on Sundays next year, put it that way.
