Even HS coaches doing pretty good

Not even a little bit. HS coaches will need to be the best at what they do to even come close to sniffing six figures.

Not even for a second. I like having time off.

coaching consumes your life, especially at the elite level.

But you have to put up with all the bullshite involved with coaching that has nothing to do with football.
For that reason, I'm out.

Screw that man, I know they make a lot of money but I love my family! Love my time off and love to fish! I'm not putting in those hours for that money.

Health issues start popping up too.... stress, anxiety, high blood pressure, just to name a few. That's why you see many coaches struggle to find constant success or just end up stepping down after a while.

The biggest issue is the fans that go after the coaches kids.

18 hour workdays? No thanks

The vast majority of coaches make a pitance for long, grueling hours. If you get into coaching for money, you’re a dumbass.

I plan to retire in the next 3-5 years. I'll be in my early 40s and HS coach/JROTC instructor are pretty high on my list on next ventures.

I think I would have made a damn fine basketball coach. But like others have said, it would be an extremely demanding job.

Huh? Since when is Gus the best at what he does?

I was asked by my college baseball coach to stay on, after graduating, to help coach but I decided to pursue my medical profession job instead. One of my college teammates is now the head baseball coach at Auburn. I often think about how I could have been in that same position.
