This isn't my specialty, but how is LSU so broke and Mississippi State and Ole Miss are not?
Or Arkansas for that matter.
Is poor Mississippi that much better than Louisiana? We support two SEC schools.
LSU has had more success in all sports than ole miss and State. Why so broke?
And stop. It's embarrassing

Because LSU sports is not broke.
Why is that so hard for you to understand?

I want to talk shite but I’m trying to be nicer to the LSU folks here now

Everybody knows LSU sports is broke.

They can't pay for decent professors but they can pay for good offensive coordinators.

This.
Everyone is willing to donate to the TAF, but no one wants to donate to the academic endowment. Everyone loves LSU sports, but everyone hates LSU. Poor slobs don't even realize you can't field a college football team without keeping the school itself open.

This may be the dumbest post of the year.

It definitely is, only due to how stupid the LSU fanbase as a whole is.
When Edwards was talking about closing the school due to the budget, rantards were actually asking if they could still play football if the school was closed. Talk to the average fan about donating to academics and you'll hear them talk about not paying for a bunch of liberal professors.
But ultimately all you have to do is look at the numbers. LSU sports is near the top of the conference in funding, while the academic endowment is near the bottom.
I guess it all stems from a population in a state with the 49th worst education system, and where they distrust educated people.
But go Tigers!

quote:This... is ignorant. TOPS standards were dropped to where anyone that doesn't drool uncontrolably gets tution covered at a state college all while tuition grows faster than inflation. On top of that, 'tech fees' have grown to the point that they now surpass actual tuition. All of this money is pouring into the school and yet the embarrassment of a collegiate President continues to cry that they are 'broke' (nevermind the lazy river over there...).

Truth is, LSU is far from 'broke'. Instead, it is ran by incompetent people with no pride who are insistant on trashing the university image with their unceasing whining for more money. Our 'leadership' is fricking embarassing.

I'm not surprised by this. At all.

Trying to find the article from last year that stated the following.
But a brief summary of it is:
The state of Louisiana has as many four year universities as the state of Florida.
There is zero logic behind that.
To make things worse most can't pull their weight. The state sets aside funding allocated for the multiple universities. Every year LSU has X amount of money taken from them because it's needed to support the other school systems in the state. LSU's take gets smaller and smaller each year these other systems leech off of LSU.
LSU is far from weak, and if the state would step in LSU could be one of the more financially stable programs in the SEC.

It amazes me just how stupid the people in Louisiana are and at the same time how arrogant.

The athletic fund and educational fund are separate entities. One is broke, and it’s not the athletic one.

Why lose so much to a broke state or program?
Same for Faggie and Whorekansas.
Why? What does that say about you?

while I painfully agree, this is turning into a political conversation as the OP intended.
So...we can loop Louisiana and Mississippi into one really. With the exception to Texas, Big Red states are filled with very little haves and a whole lot of have nots. Yet, the large majority votes to never raise taxes for funding programs like education. Like many of the "conservatives" point out, nationally we fund more for education than any other country. So, I guess what I'm saying is...who cares?
I mean, we don't care enough to change it, so...
