Except that's not true and in coaching circles it's well spoken of. LSU is broke.

Revenue:
No. 12 Mississippi State: $35.47 million
No. 5 LSU: $85.74 million
Shouldn't the thread title be changed to why is Mississippi State so poor.

But ultimately all you have to do is look at the numbers. LSU sports is near the top of the conference in funding, while the academic endowment is near the bottom.
I guess it all stems from a population in a state with the 49th worst education system, and where they distrust educated people.
Also, LSU does a terrible, and I mean terrible, job of fostering the relationship with its alumni. Except for what happened under O'Keefe, LSU also does a terrible job of capital campaigning.
I graduated from LSU almost a decade ago and I've never received a single request for a donation from the school. Hell, I get letters annually from my high school asking for money, and I've given every year.
I've a very extended family member, also an LSU alum, who donated a very sizable amount of money that he requested be used for scholarships. All he asked in return was for LSU to let him know how that money was being used in a yearly letter. He never got it unless he called to request it, then he said he always had to explain to some student worker who he was. He said he never felt even the slightest bit appreciated for it.
He made a similar donation to another school in Mississippi where his grandkids went. This donation had the same requests. That school not only honored his request, but he was kept in the loop for more than that. He was invited to events, and when he went they rolled out the red carpet for him.
Ultimately he passed about 5 years ago, but he never gave a cent to LSU again and instead chose to keep giving to the school in Mississippi that he never attended.
Yes, I'd love to see LSU's funding and endowment grow, but you can't expect something if you don't even ask. And you certainly can't expect alumni to give back if you don't try and foster the relationship with them.

Speaking of coaching circles, LSU's idiot coaches have been coaching circles around A&M for years now.

Because Louisiana politicians are corrupt and suck at managing a budget.
Athletic dept is doing just fine because they don't rely on getting funding from LSU academics or the state govt.

I agree wholeheartedly with your post, LSU is not well run.
But here is my point, while this is true:
...it's also true that people are signing up for waiting lists to contribute to the TAF without having to be asked. They seem to value the product the Athletic Dept. puts out more than the product the academic side puts out. And neither side seems terribly adept at management.

Louisiana is the worst run state in the country because the people in Louisiana are the worst people in the country
Thats your answer to why are they broke

LSU sports broke? What? LSU has more money than state and ole miss combined man. Idk where you got this info from, but it's incorrect.

Well LSU is 23-3 in the last 26 games vs Mississippi State. But yes, it should be 26-0, I agree.

LSU consistently pays one of the most in the nation for its coordinators. Usually the most actually.

I said
...then you asked to explain this:
First, that's from nearly two years ago.
Second, no where does it state that LSU sports is short of money (go back to the top to see my original statement).
Third, your link only shows that the Louisiana state government is broke, not the People of Louisiana. The People continue to give money to the Tiger Athletic Foundation (at least until the Trump tax cuts come into effect) which funds LSU sports (again, see my statement at the top of this post), while they are not giving money to the academic side of the university.
In short, there are various funding sources for LSU, some fund sports, some fund academics. It is the academic side that is hurting for money, not the athletics side.
Is there anything else I can help clear up for you?

...then you asked to explain this:
quote:
Louisiana has no money. The state is currently operating with a $940 million budget deficit that is set to balloon to $2 billion in the next fiscal year.
Edwards: "As I mentioned earlier, if the legislature fails to act and we are forced to proceed with these cuts, the LSU Ag Center and parish extension offices in every parish, and Pennington Biomedical Research Center will close by April 1st and the LSU main campus in Baton Rouge will run out of money after April 30th, as will the Health Sciences Center in Shreveport and LSU Eunice. There is no money left for payroll after those dates. The Southern University System, and University of Louisiana System, and the Louisiana Community and Technical College System are in the same boat: without legislators approving new revenue this special session, some campuses will be forced to declare financial bankruptcy, which would include massive layoffs and the cancellation of classes."

LSU beat Ole Miss man..
So it's only State. Being a State fan and an LSU fan puts me in a bind here, but since what you said is so stupid, it makes its easier.
LSU is 16-2 vs Ms State since 2000.
Also just noticed that State has beaten LSU 5 times in the last 32 years.
Get it together man. for everyone's sake.
