With Clemson on the schedule in 2018 and 2019, Alabama being a permanent opponent, and in 2019 we have UGA in Athens, Coach Fisher will have 5 opponents in his first two years that are playoff teams in 2017. How many of these games does he need to win for the fans to rally around him?

I thought this thread was going to be about the new signing period deadline.

Nope. Winning football games. Curious to know what people think "the bar" is. How high do you have it set? How good do we expect him to do early on against our stacked schedule?

I think if he can go 2-3 in those games as a new coach, he will have won the support of the fans. Sumlin only needed 1 big win. Although slaughtering OU in the Cotton Bowl certainly didn't hurt him.

First 2 years? None. Let's just get to the point where we beat the teams we should beat first. No losses to Arkansas, USC, Ole Miss, Miss St, LSU the first 2 years and you are a roaring success. That puts you in position to finish 9-3/10-2.

After the first 2 years, you better start competing to win the west and you shouldn't lose OOC at all.

About the same as Sumlin, but I expect recruiting to be twice as good and I expect us to build up a coaching industrial complex like Saban did during that time.

Our roster is a terrible fit for Jimbo's offenses. It is all about building a real contender three or four years from now and putting ourselves in the best position in the conference the day Nick steps down.

This right here. We have to be ready/able to fill that power vacuum.

You have to give Jimbo time to get elite players before you can expect him to beat elite teams. Nick Saban is not going to beat Clemson with Kevin Sumlin players.

We do have some decent talent returning though, see CGSCs thread.

I’m gonna get it out there, I’m expecting 9-3 year one. Not great but not dog crap either

I see us losing 3 or 4.

It's the WAY we lose those games that will determine the reaction to that kind of record.

No 59-0 crap. Just be competitive.

If Jimbo loses 59-0, then we will finally know for sure that we are cursed by the gods.

Or it means that we need to stop giving out guaranteed contracts that gives our coaches very little motivation to win.

WAY too early prediction

NW St: Win
Clemson: Loss
ULM: Win
@Bama: Loss
Arkansas: Win
Kentucky: Win
@USC: Win
BYE
@Miss St: Win
@Auburn: Loss
Ole Miss: Win
UAB: Win
LSU: Win

9-3 (6-2)

I think we improve drastically as the season progresses, 2-2 start/7-1 finish, mostly as a result of Jimbo and Starkle getting to know each other. I went back and forth on that Auburn game but I think Stidham in his second year is going to be a handful.
