Gus isn't my first option because so many fans don't like him, but like Hawgeye said, "winning would solve that."

I could get on board the Gus Bus if he brings Kevin Steele and that nasty defense to Arkansas.

If I had to bet money I'd put it on Norvell

Gus is the smoke screen, Gundy slips in the backdoor.

I've got my peg leg and eye patch ready for the pirate and my ticket for the lane train. But frick gus and his short bus. Worst mode of transportation in the U.S.

I think Gus will be our head coach and he will do better than expected. Im not sure if it is the route we should go or not though. If it isn't him then it will be either Norvell, Leach, Kiffin or Gundy.

If Gus loses this weekend I think he's our next coach.

I wouldn't count out Gundy or Kiffin but without an AD who knows.

I actually think we may be at advantage to lure a big name without an AD if they get some input on who it is or if it is someone they are comfortable with.

I don’t think Malzahn ends up here. I don’t think it’s a smokescreen but rather folks with a lot of money being used to getting whatever they want.

This is probably unlikely to happen, esp if next AU coach wants to retain Steele.

Steele has a lot of ties to Auburn (e.g bro works there) and from what I understand he prefers to coach as DC at AU until he hits AL state retirement

I don't think HC gigs would pull him away unless it was a really great situation

I don't think it will be Gus in the end.

I also refuse to melt until a name is announced, and a 24 HR grace period has passed so we don't get Altmanned

Nope. Only if he was fired and really needed a gig.

I'm still hearing it's not happening with Gus because of his contract demands more than anything. We're willing to pay a large buyout (not necessarily for Gus, just in general) but not willing to lock ourselves down with a massive long-term contract that he's demanding. He's wanting Saban money for 6-8 years GUARANTEED written in. He thinks he holds all the cards and can name his price...

Boy he sure does looooove Arkansas and wants to come home
