Do you think if we hadn't abandoned our running game against Clemson after Bo went down, we would have had a much better chance of winning that game?

You seem like a reasonable fellow, so no offense, but honestly, I think the lack of a balanced offense, the lack of sustained drives, the lack of ability to take advantage of those turnovers forced on Clemson's side of the field, cost us that game and the national title, shitty no calls (refs) notwithstanding. I do think we'd probably have won if Kiffin were calling the plays, but that didn't happen either.

edit: Right now, anyway, I have some work to do. I will check you later.

But why go away from something that is working so well? We didn't have balance in 2010 vs Texas, but we also didn't quit running the ball, which is why we won. Do you think that we should have passed more against UT in 2010 for the sake of balance, even when it would probably be unsuccessful? Because that is basically what you are telling us.

You guys are cracking me up with the Kirby love. Dude went 7-5 with a talented roster Richt left him. He's feasting on maybe the worst SEC division in history and has won exactly zero hardware thus far. Yeah, he's a sick recruiter--we all knew that. So was Les Miles and Ron Zook. Having elite talent doesn't translate to dominating the football landscape like Saban has and continues to do. Let's see how they do against AU and Bama before we crown Kirby as the next Saban. My guess is they could easily lose 2 games this year and they have to rebuild their entire defense next year. And if UF and UT actually make decent hires this time, things will get a lot harder for them over there in the future as well.

Well said: I am so sick of this board melting over Georgia.

In general, I agree with you about the lack of a balanced offense.

However, even granting all your other assertions, we entered the fourth quarter with a 10-point lead. If my count is correct, we ran 18 plays in the fourth quarter. Fourteen of those were passing plays; only four were designed runs. (I'm not including the sacks and scrambles, even though one of those scrambles gave us the lead with just over two minutes remaining.)

On those four designed run plays, we gained 25 yards. Two of those run plays generated a first down; one on first down (a 13-yard run), and one on fourth down (a seven-yard run, on our final drive).

To my way of thinking, we would have had a much better chance to sustain drives, eat clock, and in general win the game -- had Sark not decided to suddenly make 78% of our offensive plays passes. It should have been the other way around; we should have been running 70% of the time in the fourth quarter, especially with a 10-point lead.

It pains me to see Georgia using our "old" footprint to dominate their division.

The word you were looking for was "blueprint", not "footprint".

I've got to believe huddie ledbetter and Commander data are the same Auburn fan's alters.

Sark was an idiot in that game. Saban would have done better calling the plays himself in all honesty.

Because we don't think like you or don't have the same opinion you do. Can you be more vacuous or close minded?

edit: Wait a minute. Isn't Nard dog the insecure and irritating guy in The Office? ha. It fits.

I like having a "modern" offense. It does however worry me that UGA is spanking us in recruiting without Alabama losing to them on the field.

Did I miss signing day or something? When did UGA spank us in recruiting?

Everyone take a damn deep breath.

All signs are pointing to them beating us this year and they have a pretty strong start next year. No reason to have your head in the sand until the final signing day.

Do you think we will still be in the top 5?

I'm not having a panic attack about some 16-17 year olds who may or may not sign with us or UGA months from now. It doesn't matter how much you or I worry or follow it closely, it won't change the outcome. This thread is a mess.

I'm not sure if you guys remember, but back in '13 I believe, we were playing Ark with Mallet.

We were having a hard time defending the hawgs, they had us on our heels with their passing game + Petrino.

If memory serves me, Saban had to make Kirby change some things up at halftime, because I don't believe he had an answer for what they were doing.

We were a different team after the half defensively, and that showed me a weakness in KS's play calling.

The flip side to that is that we have no downfield passing game that might cause him scheming problems VS Uga.

That was the 2010 game against Arkansas. Bama was down 20-7 and came back and won 24-20.

Bama won the 2013 game against Arkansas, 52-0.

I just don't get this obsession with a downfield passing game. We had the most explosive downfield passing game in program history in 2014 and came up short. We didn't have much of a downfield passing game from 2008-2011 either.
