It's really weird

-Kerryon looks to be the guy even tho he's only about 80-85%

-Pettway is about the same and went from 34 carries in 1 game to 5 carries over the next 2

-Kam Martin gets no love from Chip. 2nd leading rusher on team and has only played 2 games

-Malik Miller is the 2nd big back

-Devan Barrett only catches passes

Can anyone get a read on this?

Because Pettway is not healthy

I have yet to see anyone to explain why he has not had any carries really

I'm hoping Gus and Chip will have an answer next game. It's obvious Pettway is not the same dude from last year and I don't know if injury or other.

We need to do something because holes were there Saturday that were missed. Interested to see how this develops.

-Start Malik Miller and Barrett. Both have showed they're capable so far, even if it was some garbage time. Might as well so it now against teams like Ole Miss.

-Play KJ if we need tough yards. Max 10 carries a game until he's 100%.

-Put Kam Martin on some speed sweeps, alternate with Stove, and outside tosses on the edge. Give him a wheel route per game.

-Sit Pett until his heel is healthy, run him through some gauntlet drills the week of practice before he plays to get rid of fumbling. It's hurting his pro look playing him right now.

Problem solved.

They better get Martin, Miller, or Barrett some work now or they'll regret it. I don't see KJ or KP getting healthy anytime soon. Bye week isn't until 10/28.

I thought the memo early this summer was to blame Gus for every single player personnel decision in game?

It is truly baffling. They've all looked good when they've gotten in the game. All run hard and seem to give the running game a good boost when they get a carry, but we barely use them.

Right now, I'm fine using KJ around the goal line, but lets use the other guys between the 20's.

This is what drives me crazy about Gustav.

It was Mercer. Pettway shouldn't have even dressed out. Sure, the game ended up being way closer than it should have been due the fumbling, but I guarantee we would have been able to gain 500+ yards and score 24 points if only Miller and Martin had played RB.

I know Pettway is money as a pass blocker, but damn, how much protection did Stidham need against Mercer?

It doesn't take much imagination to think that putting KP on the field for 50+ snaps and giving him 30 carries when he was in pain might be why he's ineffective now.

We should be resting him instead we're running him in the ground. He admittedly said after Moo St. that he can't reach top speed.

Looks fat, slow, and disinterested.

No love from Chip or Gus? Hard to tell. Rumor is he's "banged up" I think Gus just has some phobia about small backs. Although several schools use freshman and backs similar size to Martin.

-Malik Miller is the 2nd big back

He has looked really good when given the ball. Not a game breaker but more top end speed than Pettway and less dancing at the line than KJ. I would like Malik to get more touches

Devan Barrett only catches passes

Needs at least 10 carries a game. Home run threat. Those slow arse buck sweeps we kept giving KJ should be going to Barrett

Miller needs more touches. Personally, he should be our number 2 back, KJ number 1 with Barrett and Martin being rotating for third.

On WJOX this morning, Marcello said KJ, Pettway, and Martin are all hurt. Kam P being the worst. Look for Miller to start having a part going forward.

Malzahn mentioned Miller would get more opportunities today. Also said Pettway is far from healthy, but will still play. He said KJ was getting more healthy and was pretty much our guy. Barrett and Martin also mentioned as "doing great".
