Averaging just over 303 yards per game. Granted that stat line is greatly aided by the 496 yards we put up on Vanderbilt on Saturday. Only Tulsa, Army, Navy, and Georgia Tech average more yards per game on the ground.
This is for the folks who want Jalen to throw more....If it aint broke, dont fix it

Do you expect Tulsa, Army, Navy, and Georgia Tech to be vying for the national title this year?

If they had our defense, and our skill guys, then sure.

But vs Clemson, our defense was left on the field so long because we couldn't sustain drives, and we couldn't get the ball to those skill guys that could have helped us sustain those drives. Play a good defense, and if you are too one dimensional, you probably won't be able to move the ball consistently.
So what works for Tulsa, Army, Navy, and Ga Tech probably won't work for a team that wants to win national titles.
That's why we need a balanced offense.

That was last year.
and besides, we still should've won that game, despite our offensive woes. Also, I'm of the opinion that our offensive playcalling had more to do with it than anything. If we don't abandon the run, which we were gashing them with, then we win easily IMO.

Not just your opinion but that of almost every sports analyst on earth.

I was responding to the comment ...
"This is for the folks who want Jalen to throw more....If it aint broke, dont fix it"
The point is that it's broke if you aren't balanced because the good teams, the teams you have to beat to win things like national titles, will beat you if you don't have a consistently balanced offense that can sustain drives.
Yeah, you can win a lot of games when you have the talent that Alabama does, but right now, the hope of most Alabama fans isn't just to win a lot of games, but to win the national championship.

Saban himself said on ESPN before the FSU game that the passing game was "detrimental" to the 2016 team. We could trot out just about any SEC quarterback and win 11 games with the absurd amount of elite talent around him. Our offense could be virtually unstoppable if Hurts could throw downfield average but he can't, the coaches know he can't and most fans know he can't. We have the best receivers in America and it is read the first one and take off if it ain't there. He can hit a long ball if the guy is wide open but not so much if he isn't.
Listen to yourselves, we are running a freaking high school offense and some of you are fine with it. Hurts is a single threat quarterback good for about 90 passing yards per game on his good day. Sorry but we have quite a few guys that can rack up the rushing yardage. We used to make fricking fun at Auburn for shite like this and here we are.

There is a great bit to disagree with in your post, so I will just pick one:
totally weird, since he averaged double that per game as a true freshman.

Wanna show his stats vs ranked competition? Pretty sure he didn't cross the 100 yard mark until late into the third during the natty. If the rest of the team has a great game then Jalen isn't a liability, but so far this season he is.

I think most of the fans here are just going to support any of the Alabama players that haven't killed somebody, and that's cool. In fact, it's kind of commendable if not always totally rational.
One thing about this board is that most of the posters are devoted Alabama fans. I think the fact that rival fans can post here (given approval) has some to do with this. The boards that don't allow for that are about invariably going to have fake Bama posters that subtly irritate the home team.
edit: And while I am a devoted Alabama fan (looking at you PowHound) I have never been accused of being very subtle. I can be that, but more often I am not.

And no offense intended, but stats show that a heck of a lot of those yards were jet sweeps and screens. Personally, I am talking about a legitimate and consistent downfield threat.
But yeah. That was last year and I did call it early on, to the consternation of a lot of posters. I think it's going to happen again unless we develop a downfield passing game, and we need to work on it in live games to develop it. Summer of George said it is what it is. He may be right about that.

That's fine, I was just pointing out that him saying that he is only good for 90 yards a game was wrong.

Be my guest bro, but the comment I was responding to said nothing about "vs ranked competition."

I have just a comment about the "wanna show his stats vs ranked opponents" comment. Would it be safe to assume that any QB would have less passing yards against the Top 4 teams in the land? I haven't looked that up just a question/observation.

It really depends. Jake Coker was clutch in the final three games of the 2015 season. In those three games he was a combined 59-81 825 yards 6 TDs 0 INTs. So against the best competition on the back end of our schedule he completed almost 73% of his passes, threw 6 TDs and didn't turn the ball over.

Dude, Jake turned into fricking Joe Flacco.

They've got 4 decent backs against the above competition.
NAME CAR YDS AVG LONG TD
D'Angelo Brewer 114 578 5.1 60 5
Shamari Brooks 47 276 5.9 63 (TD) 4
Chad President 34 210 6.2 48 4
Corey Taylor II 34 179 5.3 55 (TD) 4
Comparatively, Bama has some impressive statistics as well against tougher competition.
Jalen Hurts 45 360 8.0 55 (TD) 3
Damien Harris 38 309 8.1 61 (TD) 6
Bo Scarbrough 44 221 5.0 19 3
Najee Harris 30 156 5.2 25 0
Brian Robinson Jr. 5 51 10.2 17 (TD) 1
Ronnie Clark 10 48 4.8 19 0
Josh Jacobs 5 34 6.8 13 0
Tua Tagovailoa 4 22 5.5 22 0
I don't understand why Joshua Jacob isn't getting more carries again he is the second best hb with ypc on the team
