Why wasn't Tennessee playing prevent Defense?

I was busy watching the Dawgs kick the shite out of LSU and am just now seeing the Hail Mary play. Were they focused on preventing a field goal? That wide receiver got behind the coverage and 99% of the time that doesn't happen if you're playing prevent

There is no way you let a receiver get behind you on that play. No way

Botch said he didn't have and more DBs available to go to the dime, so they stayed in the nickel package.

Botch said that his team had too many injuries to run a dime package.

No seriously, that was his explanation.

They shouldn't have gone with the full "defend the goal line" prevent, but they should not have been playing tight coverage. The CB at the top of the screen when the play starts is playing tight, almost press, coverage. The safeties also only like 15 yards from the LOS, give or take. They should have been deeper, at least have their heels on the limit of UF's FG range then drop from there.

A 25-30 yard pass gets you in FG range. They couldn't play the pervert D, but there should be no way you let any WR get behind you.

They gave up basically the same play to UGA last year and were bailed out by our players being undisciplined fricktards.

Because Florida has a kicker who has the leg to put it up from 65 yards.

So they covered the outside routes and had four deep.

Not a Butch Jones mistake on that one. That was the player screwing up on the Tenn side and letting him get behind him.

Add in I don't think anyone expected Franks can throw on a dime from 65 yards...which is absolutely insane.
