Dixieland Delight in BDS

Any chance they'll resume playing this song at Bama home games since Bill Battle is no longer the AD? Personally, I found the alternative version sang by the student section amusing. Just college kids being college kids. It's okay for people born with a penis to go into women's restroom but let college students drop an F-bomb and people lose their damn minds.

Dixieland Delight = a song about Tennessee written by a Tennessean

I think they ruined a perfectly good song. Can't even hear it in a bar now without the added bits.

What are the alternate lyrics? That song is crack for Greeks at bama.

It wasn't even a good song.

I'd prefer it come back, but I just want to stop hearing about it. The amount that people complain that it's gone is stupid. It was just a piped in a song. It's not like it was a great tradition or something.
I think a synchronized frick *insert school name in a game not involving that opponent is lame anyways.

It died a glorious death at the iron bowl. It's now a relic of the past, buried next to Neck in the graveyard of SEC football stadium songs that were slain by vulgarity

That was discovered and got their start at The Bowery in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
They are definitely an SEC band.

I was listening to Dixieland Delight this morning..it's on my Spotify playlist. As is Sweet Home Alabama.

No, but it was played out anyway.
Once the grandmas start singing the alternate lyrics, it's time to move on.
And I loved the song.

Third Saturday in October = a rivalry game usually only played by Alabama.

I was also listening to Dixieland Delight this am on the way to work. I love that song.
Alabama isn't from Texas, but they were and still are loved in Texas.

They do have that fiddle.

So it bothers you that it took some kids from Fort Payne, AL to make it popular?
Regardless, I don't want it back in the stadium. The alternate lyrics were pretty stupid.

Kinda off topic but I'm listening to Dixie On My Mind by Hank Williams jr...you like that one?

Yes, that one too! Another great song.
What I like about Hank Jr. is that he always gives Texas a "shoutout" somewhere in his Dixie songs.

I doubt any administration will allow it not because of F Auburn, but because it mentions the word DIXIE. Our PC world drives me crazy.

What is the deal with the fighting sabans "adopting" songs? As has been mentioned, "Dixieland Delight" is not even about Alabama. "Sweet Home Alabama" is sung by a Florida band and doesn't even mention the university at all.
Can somebody help me with this?
