You've had 3 HC's, 5-6 DC's, 5 OC's, numerous position coaches in the past decade.
Yet, it's the fault of your in-state rival that AU hired a Head Coach who's been spinning around the toughest conference in the country on training wheels for the last 5 yrs?

I haven't really expected to win since maybe 08. Even in 2010, I just knew Bama was about to play spoiler and ruin our season and they still almost did. In 2013, I didn't expect to win just because I wasn't sure how Bama's defense would contain NM. Last signing day, nSaban signed an ESPN 100 football player to grayshirt so the machine is obviously still rolling, if not picking up steam.
"We're Auburn; we should expect to win every game" was nice while it lasted.

AU's recruiting is better than ever in school history. They've consistently pulled classes ranked in the 6-10 range for years. AU should be fielding teams ranked in the top 10 at the end of the season consistently as well, and they aren't.
The talent is there, the facilities are there, the fan support is there, the money for football is there.
Why should Auburn shoulder the blame for Saban becoming the best in the business now?
Rankings are determined by wins. Auburn has consistently been out recruited by LSU and Alabama. Based on Recruiting rankings that means 2 losses...I believe we technically get out recruited by uga in that same time span but it is closer. That should be a 3rd loss based on recruiting. Most years that pushes you out of the top ten rankings. Based on recruiting since 2010 I believe we rank 4th or 5th in the SEC. So if it equates to poll rankings that should put Auburn as a team which generally finishes in 12-25 range.
Auburn isn't much different than we have historically been. We are a top 15 program and most years have that type of potential. Doing it in bama's back yard is impressive, but we also benefit from our location despite not being the state school so to me all of that talk is basically a wash.
At the end of the day Auburn should win 8 games most years. If we catch some breaks we should compete for the SEC. If not we don't.

After watching the 2010 Auburn national championship and in danger of seeing a second consecutive recruiting class finish ranked behind the Tigers, Bama boosters bought Saban out of harm's way and saved his arse with the 2011 class. To further insulate and protect Saban, they decided to make the purchase of Auburn's top target an annual thing moving forward. It's our fault that we allowed it to happen. We literally had your program and his entire career by the throat. We chose not to outbid and it made the two programs what they are today.

So are you accusing LSU and UGA of buying their coaches a cushion also? OR is it just Bama that has to buy recruits to out recruit AU

Great Post. You should want to beat Bama every time you play. But don't expect it, it will temper and lessen the heartbreak!

With the amount of resources spent I expect, not hope, Auburn to win every game on their schedule in every sport.

Auburn isn't the only program that fiscally invests in their athletic program.

Last year and 2006 were the only times in that span (2006-2016) that Georgia beat an Auburn team that was better than them. The other 6 weren't really luck as much as it was just the better team winning the game.
ETA: They were probably pretty even in 2009. Both teams were just terrible.

Georgia has had two bad teams the past two years. We have too but a lot of that is is because of our QB position.

So you think AU invests at a level higher than other schools? Every school has resources and spends. To "Expect" your team to win based on spending alone is crazy.
If Bama and AU play each other in baseball tomorrow, I would hope to win, but wouldn't expect it based on available data. Same should be true in reverse if Bama and AU played in football tomorrow.

Anytime AU is ranked, I expect AU to win.

"A spirit that is not afraid"... frick Alabama. I expect to give those cocksuckers absolute hell every single time we hit the field in every sport we play, and win our fair share, particularly at home. Doesn't always happen, but that's what I expect. Thats why football games like 2012 and 2008 make me sick because we quit, and that's not Auburn.

That's bullshite. No fan of any team can reasonably expect to beat the other team every time.

2009 and 2015 would disagree.
