Stealing Summers stats from another thread
Here are how the QBs perfromed against P5 teams. The bolded number is how Athlon ranked them
Just to get a better idea of performance against decent to good opponents the prior year.
Ranked by QB Rating
1Austin Allen(14), Jr (ARK) - 139.32 (18-13 TD-INT, 58.9%, 8.4 YPA)
2. Jalen Hurts(11), Fr (BAMA) - 135.65 (17-9 TD-INT, 61.8%, 7.3 YPA)
3. Jake Bentley(24), Fr (USC) - 130.52 (4-2 TD-INT, 63.3%, 6.9 YPA)
4. Danny Etling, Jr (63) (LSU) - 129.48 (7-3 TD-INT, 60.3%, 7.4 YPA)
6. Nick Fitzgerald (15), So (MSU) - 117.60 (12-6 TD-INT, 54.1%, 6.1 YPA)
9. Jacob Eason (21), Fr (UGA) - 116.02 (13-6 TD-INT, 54.4%, 6.2 YPA)
10. Kyle Shurmur (48), So (VAN) - 106.86 (6-9 TD-INT, 52.9%, 6.4 YPA)
I think that shows how Etling is being undersold. THey simply saw LSU qb and ranked him low

Perhaps you misunderstand what the word "irritate" means... I could have said triggered, butthurt, or any of the myriad terms used around here... I opted for the one that essentially indicates the least amount of acknowledgement. If you didn't care, what was the cause for the comment?

Yea - and of course some of these guys get a bump from their non-throwing abilities (Hurts, Fitzgerald).
In terms of overall, I'd probably rank them (in terms of where I think they will be when the dust settles next season)
1. Allen
2. Bentley
3. Hurts
4. Fitzgerald
5. Eason
6. Etling
7. Patterson
8. Johnson
9. Lock
10. Shurmur
The upside is I don't think there is a "bad" QB in that mix. Shurmur is probably the closest.

I still think you're off base.

I do think it's crazy for Etling to be at 63 and Shurmur to be at 48.
Etling should be around 40-45 near Lock and Shurmur should be in the 50s. Eason probably around 25-30. IMHO.

I understand ranking them in the order george has, but to be that much gap between them is clearly Athlon not actually reviewing the data.

I don't care if you use irritated, butthurt, salty or even perturbed. None of them apply simply because I'm perceptive enough to notice other people's posting habits.
Are you catching on?

Ah, I missed your point. I thought you were trying to say that Etling was better than Eason. My mistake.
Posted on 3/29/17 at 2:18 pm to lsupride87
I think if you put Eason and Etling on the same team, you would see that Eason is in fact at least 20 spots better.

They picked the wrong A&M QB.
Depends on if they were thinking of the guy who starts the season or the one who finishes it.

How in the world is Stidham ranked ahead of Austin Allen? Allen and Deshaun Watson were pretty much the only QBs who successfully threw the ball downfield against Bama, arguably the best secondary in the country. I will never understand the media's jerk fest for Auburn's off-season QBs.

It's crazy that sports media and opposing fans respect Austin more than our own shitty fanbase.
There are a handful of idiots who believe Austin is playing because his father has a desk job in the football office.
The worst are the Rafe Peavey worshipers. Rafe isn't going to start for SMU but they think he should have started for us.
